We've been using The Bridge for several decades now and have seen a steady decline, we also had family work there. I am disappointed with slipping standards, equally the staff are not at fault, however leadership should set good examples, there were several times over the course of our stay that the staffing was inadequate, the breakfast routine is not advertised clearly enough. The standard of the house cleaning was high, but flooring and some structure needs replacing and high volume passages need further protection like matting that could be replaced more cheaply than the flooring (like near the kitchen entrance/exit and stairways that creak). The staff are great locals, but would always benefit from more training to understand what they should be looking for in order to maintain high standards. There were "interesting" smells in the stairwell and accommodation/eatery walkway, both first impression areas, decor was up to standard (just) with our superior room although finishes, left a little to be desired, (gaffer tape covering former lighting holes in four places), again not a reflection of the house cleaning staff. Overall a satisfactory stay, but with moments of frustration, Alex Polizzi would definitely not visit twice, out of choice, we however will be back and will look forward to see how The Bridge tackles it's future.
