Amfora hotel
This is a review for the Amfora Hvar Hotel as the Delfín Hvar Hotel was closed and I was changed over to their Amfora property. This is a really nice hotel and a beautiful location.

The hotel is located along the water so the view from the room was very nice. The hotel itself could use some updating, the carpets are pretty worn and there was no air conditioning. The room itself was large, clean and comfortable.

Hvar
Location of the front reception of the hotel was great, just off the waterfront but rooms were to far from the waterfront and behind buildings to be considered a sea view in my opinion. Rooms were mediocre to say it nicely. Bed was ok but that was the highlight. No air conditioning apart from one blow fan and toilet area looked like it was last remodeled in the 60’s. Breakfast was ok but it was standard continental breakfast and quality of produce weren’t that high.

Nice and Central around Hvar Harbour
Nice hotel in a very nice location at the centre of all lively bars and clubs around Hvar Harbour. The room itself is basic and a downside was there was no air-conditioning in my room and it proved to be very hot during my stay there, I do not know about other rooms or did not ask. The service from hotel staff and restaurant bar was great and cannot fault anything else during my stay.

It wasn't the hotel that we booked. We booked the Delfin bevause of its proximity to the harbour and the Pharos (while a perfectly good hotel) was much further away on foot, particularly for a partly disabled member of our party.

Stay at the Delfin Hvar Hotel!
Ok, I was lucky as I had a room at the back of the hotel with a bathroom window and it was cool. My friends who also stayed were allocated in the front rooms and it is a hotbox. There is a fan, but will circulate hot air unless you were in a room like mine. My room was located on the 4th floor, but the lift only goes up to the 3rd, so be prepared for a short climb up stairs. Another note to add is that all of the rooms are twin rooms. It is a little dated, but you get what you pay for. Staff were very friendly, explained things really well (including the correct price for island tax) and the sports bar was great as was there for the world cup and was buzzing all of the time. Breakfast is what you would expect for a buffet (hot and cold food) and was tasty. Use that to your advantage as can be expensive eating out in Hvar, so top up on breakfast if you are on a budget. Hotel is centrally located to bars, the ferry and sea taxis to take you to other islands. Beaches are nearby too which is handy for topping up on the tan. If you want to crash your head and have fun every night, this place is for you and will stay there again.

Unfortunately I attended when there was a heat wave with outdoor temperatures being around 36 degrees. I had a room on the top floor and it was so hot in there that it was unbearable. The staff are lovely but the hotel itself really needs air conditioning

Great location
Great location with awesome port views if you purchase the room with views. Room had no air-conditioning. However, the room was supplied with a fan. The carpet was stained up like a student flat which you wouldn't expect for the price you pay. Overall the room was satisfactory however a little bit of work could make it amazing. The staff were really nice. The bar and restaurant out front was great and breakfast was satisfactory.

Good low budget hotel, clean but no frills.
A great hotel for location and for young people enjoying Hvar and not spending much time in the rooms. We stayed for three nights in July, two friends sharing a twin room. The hotel staff were friendly and breakfast was excellent for the price included. As a budget hotel we were happy, but it is not in any way luxurious or pretty. The rooms were clean but carpets stained. Shower was powerful but slightly broken and wouldn't stay upright. The room was very hot in mornings as the sunrise came through our thin curtains. There were two fans but no air con.

If youre on a budget this is a good hotel.I stayed in a similar hotel in Ibiza. It's the nature of the beast. Uou get tobe close to the water, food, walking. The room with a view was nice. I liked watching the yachts come in amd out. The breakfast wasn't That bad! Theres eggs, cooked veggies, nutella, jams, bread, cheese, juices, coffee! They cinsider "air conditioning "a white fan. It does get hot! However,just go drinking until you pass out!

If you don't like the heat stay OUT of the kitchen
SUPER HOT and they have no air conditioning. They give you a small fan that does little to fight the blazing heat on some days. The beds are also poor, one of the actually broke causing me and my fiancé to have to spend 30 minutes to personally repair it

No air conditioning it was 10 times hotter in the room than outside. Bathroom was awful. Decor in general was very very dated. Balcony door did not seem secure did not feel safe here at all. Spend the money somewhere else.

You get what you pay for....We were put on the fourth floor - the elevator goes to the third floor. Old hotel - it needs to be remodeled. There was no air conditioning so I left the window open at night. I had more than 50 mosquito bites by morning. I awoke in the middle of the night to use the toilet - there was a cockroach in the sink!!!! I left the hotel a day early even though I would not get a refund back. I didn't care - really bad experience. The only good thing about the hotel is the location.

On arrival the receptionist advised she was new, didn't let us know about breakfast or anything else about the hotel- I wouldn't fault the receptionist for this, surely should've had more training before left alone at front desk. We booked a double bed, to be welcomed by a muggy room with two low single beds pushed together, this was raised with staff, no one got back to us and we didn't chase this further, looked like a disinterest from the hotels part and a hassle to be chasing them. I picked Delfin as many reviews pointed out that you don't really stay in the room and it's a good location for the price. However the room was muggy and really uncomfortable sleep. The hotel offers free wifi and it barely loads a page, offers a premium at extra cost, loads the page at an extremely slow pace, Skype/ iChat or videos do not load. If you want to make a complaint or receive help must call an international number. The best thing is the sport bar restaurant, staff are amazing, food is at a good price and nice.

Worst hotel ever. Avoid if you can.
As a young couple traveling around Europe we have been staying in a mix of hostels and hotels. And this no doubt has been the worst we have encountered in our 3 months here. A youth hostel would be better. For the price we paid we expected something a little nicer. Firstly check in is at 3pm which is far too late. We arrived at 2:57pm and were rudely told by staff to sit down and wait until 3pm for check in time. The room was obviously ready but staff were rude and obnoxious. Secondly there was no air conditioning in the room and no fan. It is ridiculously hot here in summer and the room was like a sauna. The wifi was terrible. Shower head wouldn't stay mounted. One of the twin beds was actually broken that's how old it was. The free breakfast was awful as well. Better off not eating it. This is the first time I have given a bad review, so everyone beware it's not a nice place! The whole place is run down, the only positive was the location.

This is a pleasant hotel. Very good location by the harbour with lots of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. I picked the 'queen' option on expedia, however on arrival, the hotel states that they don't have any queen rooms, only twin beds (I didn't even get a double bed). No TV or air conditioning which is also what we were promised when booking. The staff were very helpful and provided a fan which we had to keep on all day/night whenever we were in.

Overpriced dump
The location is great, provided that you like Hvar town and don't mind the drunk kids who populate the night, and the very boring lounge-posh-"I-wanna-be-VIP" scene of Hvar town. The hotel is in a perfect location, basically in the center of town, and the staff are very nice. The problem is that the rooms are pretty close to being disgusting, with carpets that must have been made in a different geological era and mattresses that are guaranteed to give your chiropractor a lot of work. Really, those beds do not belong in Europe in 2014. It would be ok at a much lower rate per night, and using the recent popularity of Hvar to hijack prices is a quite disgusting business practice. Seriously, it doesn't matter how high the demand for beds might be, at some point there has to be some form of respect for customers, and a fair price must be asked for what you sell. Those rooms are not worth 90 euros and up. Not even half, for that matter.

Excellent location, dilapidated rooms, no air con!
I was called a couple of hours before I was due to check in by the hotel reception to tell me there was a problem with my rooms and the hotel in general in that some water pipe had burst and there was flooding. He was really sorry but could we 'upgrade' to another hotel? Since we were only booked for 2 days and I had chosen this hotel specifically for the location I said not until we've seen the other hotel. It turned out to be set right back in the hills behind the harbour and to call it an upgrade was a joke. It had a tired 70s holiday camp feel to it but without the perks of being right on Hvar harbour. So I refused and miraculously a room became available in Hotel Delfin. The extra 20min hike up the hill to the other hotel after a 3 hour journey with our very heavy back packs was not what I needed plus it was entirely obvious there was nothing wrong with the rooms or the hotel but they had obviously made a booking error. The hotel receptionist was a TERRIBLE liar! To his credit he was lovely when we refused but I felt pretty annoyed he had tried to put one over on us. The hotel itself has an amazing location right on the harbout, 30seconds from all the action. it also has a sports bar/restaurant at the front which is OK and the complimentary breakfast we actually thought was really good. That is where the plus points end though. The hotel hasn't been renovated I'd say for about 40yrs, our balcony door was stuck fast which in 38degs made it just stiffling.

The hotel itself is in an excellent location - short distance to the old town and close to multiple different beaches. The rooms themselves are no frills (no AC, refrigerator, or safe) but great in every other way. We didn't spend too much time there except to sleep, shower, and rest so it was perfect. The morning breakfast is basic but nice. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Great value. Would definitely stay here again.

more like a backpackers hostel than hotel
Really difficult to find and had to park car up a huge hill with lots of steps. Location was good though as it was on hvar harbour and had great view from the bar. Rooms had no air con and couldn't bear to be in the room during the day as it was way too sweaty! Double bed was infact 2 singles pushed together with the wooden bed frame to seperate us! Window to balcony had broken catches so not secure. We were woken up at 5am by people talking on the balconies either side of us. General decor is basic, old and tired. Ovrrall only ok to sleep in when your absolutely shuttered. We would definitely not recommend!

Great Location for Budget Conscious
Great location of this hotel with an amazing view of the old city. Good service and breakfast. However, one major caveat, the hotel is old and the building, decor, etc. is stuck in its original 70s state. Also, lack of AC can make the really hot nights a bit uncomfortable. Great value for being in the heart of the action!

Hvar is all about Partying!!
Good is you are there for partying! Hvar is really an 18-30's town!! Not a place for culture-vultures! Hotel good but no air-con!! Seems standard for a lot of Croatia. Room was a good size and the balcony had a great view over the harbour. Breakfast OK. All historical sights were closed except the Venetian Fort and Franciscan Church - wonderful Bassano's.

Location, Location.
While the location is perfect situated in the harbour of hvar town and walking distance to the beach, the rooms here were unbearably hot! There was not even a fan provided which made getting sleep very difficult. The hotel is very dated and has a musty smell about. This is definitely budget accomodation.

There is no air-condition and even a fan was a big issue to find out. The sun goes up and hits the room about 7am which wakes you up from the sleep of the heaviest night so it's a bit annoying. There's also no queen size bed in the rooms. They have put blanket in between 2 single beds to make it more comfortable which worked a little bit. Apart from that it's an old hotel with a professional staff, it's clean and rooms are wide and have nice balconies. The hotel has a sports bar which has a reasonable prices if you compare with the other bars in Hvar. It's a budget hotel for the people who doesn't expect too much.

Nice hotel but no AC in one of the hottest places
our room was decent with a nice balcony and a nice view. However rooms weren't cleaned daily. Location was really good, 10 minute walk away from the port. The restaurant at the hotel was always busy because the food was really good. The breakfast was so-so. the huge downfall is the fact that the rooms dont have AC. we were there in mid july and it was in the 40s in the daytime and not much cooler at night.
