The pics of this hotel were not even the ones of actual hotel. No human could stay in the actual hotel, mildew black mold etc . Too upgrade to property next door is an additional $30 and those are what the pics are of . It’s a scam and deceitful. No way too cancel or get money back. Be Leary and do not book this hotel. For what I actually spent I could have had a much nicer place with amenities. No coffee, nothing . Plus the smell was horrible . SCAM SCAM SCAM . Not sure how it is legal to sell a room under fake pics then charge to upgrade to that actual room. Will be reporting to BBB AND The local authorities

Terrible motel and firetrap!
This absolutely the worse motel that my family and I have ever stayed in. Norman Bates hotel in Psycho is 5 star compared to this motel. Hotel.com shouldn’t condone the false advertising by providing pictures that don’t represent the actual condition of the rooms, grounds, and facilities! Hotel.com advertises indoor/outdoor pool, which there wasn’t one and it advertises that the “resort” has a beautiful beach which it has a beach of you can dodge the collection of empty Budweiser and trash! The bathroom, you don’t have to worry about Norman Bates killing you because the bathroom electrical system isn’t grounded and certainly doesn’t have a GFI protection and to use the TV, you will need to plug it and the receiver into an extension cord to make it function and there was no remote control provided but, no worries, because the only channel you will have is the Weather Channel! The beds and mattress are worn out and no headboards are attached, however, the screws and holes are still there if you would like to provide your own headboard or find one by the roadside because it will match the rest of the decor! Pillows are provided but you will receive on “worn out one” and another and another that is half size that belongs on a couch! We would have forfeited our $250 (+) room night if other hotels in the Mackinaw City had availability due to Labor Day Mackinac Bridge! Extremely disappointing! And will reconsider using Hotel.com for booking future stays.

Our room was disgusting. We paid over 120$ a night and we had no sheets on our bed. The bathroom was small and inadequate. Rusted out everywhere. Dirty dishes under our beds. Filthy walls. Spiders and bugs coming in through a hole behind the air conditioning. Sand on our beds from other travelers. Stained carpets. Save your money and go somewhere else if you can. It was a rip off and completely unsafe.

Bed bugs!! Stains on bedding and mattress! Window screen full of bugs and mold. Head board was missing from wall. Toilet was nasty and looked like it was never cleaned. The furniture had white stains on it. The first room that was given was never cleaned after the last occupants. The dirty bedding was still left on the bed unmade and trash still in the room. The manager Tracy refused to refund my money and refused to listen to my concerns and hung up on me twice!! I slept in my car the first night and booked a different place to stay. Absolutely horrible! They should be shut down!

Guest called to berate and scream at the desk clerk, not communicate or achieve anything productive. HER son, who stayed said he enjoyed the room and never brought any issues to the attention of the front desk. We have maintenance and housekeeping on staff 24/7 and would have addressed any issues. In addition, we do not have bedbugs. We are a beach property with outdoor entrance to the room. When you leave your doors open, the native insect population, which is beneficial to our fishing industry, will come in. They too enjoy a room for their mating needs.

I reported this property to the department of health. Unsanitary motel conditions. No fitted sheets. Sewage water in the shower in room 20. Garbage under the bed in room 26. Multiple spiders and stained walls in room 19. Concerned about the unsanitary conditions and other people staying here. The motel refused to give my elderly parents money back for the sewage water shower room.

You Get What You Pay For
The person at the front desk was SUPER nice and went above and beyond for me to improve my stay. My room had a great view. It was good sized and cozy. It was great for a quick trip. If you are looking for a modern, up to date, well maintained hotel, this isnt it. It was a cheap motel I have stayed at before, so I knew what I was getting into. The bed was uncomfortable. It was so worn, there was a definite slope on one side and I was mildly afraid of sliding off the bed in the middle of the night. The shower head was corroded and rusty, which was a little concering as well. Overall good stay. I knew what I was getting into for the most part, but here is an honest review for those of you who may not.

Very caring place!!
Hotel is a little older, but very comfortable. In fact both my husband and I had our best nights sleep here. The next morning we did have a serious problem, which is when the young lady in the office, I believe her name is Kenisha( sorry if I have spelled that wrong. But this young lady, who had just met me, offered so much comfort and support I cannot say enough about her. We will come back to this location, just to enjoy the caring feeling of this place and it’s staff. If I could give them more than a ten, I certainly would. Thank you so much!!

DO NOT stay here. We booked through Expedia and I got a call from the motel the day we were supposed to arrive saying they didn’t see the reservation and they were completely booked for two queen beds. They said they could put us in a room with one queen and a full adult sofa. We reluctantly agreed to that. We arrived in the middle of the night and had to check in a couple hotels down to get our keys. When we got to our room, it was not in the motel, but rather a little shack next to the hotel. There was no bedding for the fold out and no one we could reach to get bedding. Additionally, they only gave us two towels for four people. We had to use some blankets from the queen bed so people could at least sleep on the fold out. We didn’t have four pillows either. The room was very dirty and we had to kill numerous spiders crawling on the wall. The bathroom had mold in the corners. Honestly, the only reason we didn’t leave then was because it was the middle of the night and we just needed to sleep. I would never recommend this place to anyone. We got out of there as fast as we could in the morning.

This place should be condemned! It’s disgusting and much of it has not been updated since the early 80’s. Bugs everywhere! Tried putting us on a top floor with a spiral staircase. No way to get suitcases up there. This place looks like something out of a horror movie. Was told I could not get my money back because I booked third party. They’re asking about 4x too much for a hotel of this caliber. They own multiple hotels in a row and take pics from the slightly better one and use for all. My son and I slept on top of the covers. Killed at least 10 bugs. Moved out on second day and ate the rest of my money for the second night.

The check-in, pool and ice machine was at a totally different motel next door. The motel was probably built in the ‘60’s with very little maintenance done since then. The rooms were filthy, extremely outdated and smelly. As I said, the pool pictured on the link wasn’t even located in the same complex. The bottom of the pool was three different colors from rust and repairs, had dead insects floating on the surface and algae growing on the sides and the hot tub/whirlpool wasn’t even filled with water. The whole exterior was in need of paint including the peeling room doors, the roof had missing shingles and both properties were littered with trash. I’m very surprised the city of Mackinac hasn’t shut them down! We checked out the two rooms offered and were disgusted with the smells, cleanliness and looks. When we returned the second set of keys and asked for our money back, they refused. They said that we could leave but would still be charged. I have never ever been to a worse motel that in addition has no interest in customer satisfaction. In fact, I believe they are using travel sites to scam people! Unless they lower the room rate to twenty dollars a night and you don’t care about your health, don’t stay there!

Only 1 dim light worked other was broken. Another lady was in the office saying her toilet was leaking on the floor and the room was gross and they wouldnt give her a Refund. Booked a weekend with my girlfriend at Bell's Melody Motel 7/7-7/9/23 and when we arrived we had to go to the motel next door to actually check in, and once we were able to find the office to check in, we were then told they moved our room to a 3rd Motel called the Northwinds, without asking prior if this was ok. We shrugged off that issue as no biggie, and then when we got to our room we were rather upset with the lack of any type of comfort or decor. The tv did not work at all, there were no outlets near the bed, and multiple devices (lamps, alarm clock, etc.) that were not plugged in due to nowhere to plug them into. The room was excessively small and smelled rather musty, luckily we brought febreeze from home! The bathroom looked very dated, was super small with only a tiny stand up shower and a toilet, the caulking around the shower was coming apart and looked kind of moldy. The room was just overall uncomfortable and should have been more maintained and would have been nice to at least have a working tv... Its not like we expected much from an old town motel such as this, but it does not seem like they care about customer experience at all. We did not get a chance to make any complaints to the front desk, as when we would walk into the office to talk to someone, no one could be found and we didn't like having to wait. We even waited around for about a half hour when checking out to leave our remarks and no one came out to speak with us, as if no one was there.

We found Bug egg sacks under the covers, OLD mattress without any mattress protection, old electric cords, moldy smelling air conditioning, no smoke detectors. Owners would not issue refund due to it being at checkin time. Have not received a refund for the second day (we had two days booked). It took us 2 minutes to decide to not stay…. We would have rather driven straight home after already driving for 12 hours with two small kids, than risk sleeping in this room…

Upon checking in had to go to a different hotel,next door, as 1hotel operates 4 properties, very friendly staff however they could not find keys for the first room they assigned us, nor for the second room so changed the hotel instead. The room was fairly clean, the TV didn't work, no internet. The room was designed very nice with being able to out a patio door and sit at a beach front, only reason I will come back.

The room was full of bugs. The pictures through Expedia was not the pictures of the Bell motel. It was the pictures of the sunrise motel. I told them I wanted a refund and was told that they couldn't because I booked Thur Expedia. I told him I was not staying in that room with the bugs and so he did give me an upgrade to the sunrise motel which was better. Also in the ad for the Bell motel it said there was a hot tub and a heated pool in an outdoor pool. And yes there was that but at the sunrise hotel you had to walk to it. The heated pool was not heated. The hot tub was missing a plate on the bottom and my foot stepped in the hole and I got a bruise on top of my foot. I will not recommend either one of these places for anybody to stay at. I give them a complete thumbs down.

Bugs!!!!! I’ll never stay at any of these hotels again! Upon entering our room which looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. There were bugs in our bed, all over the indoor screens,hundreds of bugs under the window, bugs in the bathroom. We complained and asked that we be moved to another room. Zach moved us to another room at a different property and upon entering the room there were no bugs that I saw until I noticed a enormous amount of dead bugs all over the inside blinds and in the corners of the room and behind the beds. By this time it was past midnight and we were so exhausted and tried to call to ask to be moved again to another room again. We just ended up sleeping in our suv. Then to make matters worse we got charged for the dirty bug infested room that I already paid for through Expedia. When I called to speak with Zach to ask why we got charged another $50.66 he acted like he didn’t have a clue as to what I was talking about and told me it was late and to call him back. I tried calling back 4 times with no response. Horrible service. The absolute worse experience we’ve ever had.

Affordable, decent, room, but….
The price is very affordable and room clean. The young lady who worked the front desk was pleasant. The pool and hot tub were close by and clean. Very decent lodgings in general except for one particular issue. The hotel has a very obvious spider infestation. The first night we ignored it since we have years of Mackinaw City / Island experience and since we were by the beach and expected there would be some minimal spider/ insect activity. However, the second night, they were all over the room door ( at least 8 of them on the outside of the room door), while outside, watching the Mackinaw Bridge fireworks, and several in the room and a huge, almost cloth like web on the northern wall windows. We decided to just lose money on our last night and leave a day early because the spiders were so bad inside and outside the room. This has never happened at any other hotel in the U.P. before in almost 20 years of visiting the area. The front desk was alerted of the issue but was unable or unwilling to do anything to resolve or even address the problem. We will not stay here again even if the room was free due to the issue we had and lack of assistance and / or attempt to resolve the problem.

We got discount tickets for the ferry to Mackinac Island. And the front desk receptionist tried to be friendly - but had to continually say that the things advertised in the room listing were not available or wasn't working. She apologized repeatedly. The pool and hot tub were not functioning or available! The rooms were old and rusty - and things were broken and stained! The water was brown and hot chocolate was not an option with the coffee pot/hot water! There was no continental breakfast! These were the things that attracted us to the listing - pool, hot tub, continental breakfast, and clean rooms!! Very disappointing stay! Would NOT recommend!!

Hotel room was disgusting! The floor was filthy dirty. I threw my socks away. But no way could I walk barefoot. The floors had not been swept or vacuumed. Pop cans beside the bathroom sink from previous visits. Window sills gross, dirt and bugs. The sheet had what appeared to be chocolate or worse on it. The shower head was for a 4 foot person. Ask to see a different room but was told there any available. I told them I'm not staying here its filthy. The receptionist said ok but your not getting a refund.

I am not a motel snob. I was not expecting a luxury stay, but the experience we had was horrible! The room we were in was disgusting! The carpet was damp and filthy. The bathroom was cramped...you literally are sitting under the sink while sitting on the toulet. The shower was filthy and small. The pictures the motel has up on the website is nothing like the actual facility. The beds were old, hard, and uncomfortable. I had to check them for bed bugs because the state of the room was so gross. The cable didn't work, although the TV turned on, the cable was disconnected. There was no wifi and no phone service inside the room. I had to go out to my car to make a call. The outside of the building was falling apart. The pool was ok but is was at the property next door. It has cracks and rough spots to the point that we cut our feet on the bottom while swimming. My daughter's feet were bleeding when we got back to the room. The beach was ok. We were supposed to stay there 2 nights and we couldn't do it. We booked another hotel for the second night even though our stay at Bell's Melody was nonrefundable.

Very dirty even the outside of motel. Staff was folding towels and blankets on top of a car when I checked out. Cleaning staff filled bottles up with water from a outside hose to clean rooms with. Not sanitary at all. COVID wrote all over this place very ran down motel. Pool colder than lake and cement falling from foundation of the pool into pool itself and no lights in pool room very dirty. Honestly the place should be closed down.

Nice little place to stay for a night.
The room was a little dated and didn't have many options to plug phones in, but overall pretty clean and comfortable. The room they put us in was on the end of the row so we had a nice little patio so that was a nice suprise. The pool/hot tub area could use a little cleaning and fixing up but the overall experience was worth the money!
