'Oldy worldy' accomodation with lots of character set back a little way from the main A46. Owner and staff were really helpful, even to the point of walking the streets to find a parking space. Excellent restaurant attached - had a lovely evening meal. Breakfast was excellent.

The view from the windows was great. We were on the top floor. It was roomy and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was down a couple of steps and you had to watch your head in there. It was a bit of an angular room with the wall jutting out by the toilet. Breakfast was OK. The croissants were not really flaky but more of a roll type thing.

Awesome Exeptional place
We were extremely pleased with our stay , The house was simply amazing full of character. Our room the highlands was very clean, quirky and cosy with a great view. The breakfast was lovely with great choice and the staff were very helpful and friendly. The bistro restaurant downstairs has lovely freshly made food and the couple:chef are very friendly giving excellent service . The house is at an excellent location on top of hill with amazing views. The village is quiet, very pleasant and the people are very friendly. Beautifull church with gardens and shops, restaurants around. John the landlord is a very nice inspiring person and he greets all his visitors looking after all. John communicated with us from our booking point until we left. We would highly recommend cardynham house and this village to stay. There are excellent view points nearby with lovely walks.

The staff are great, the two ladies that made and served breakfast also cleaned and tidy the rooms, both absolutely lovely and so friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfortable although I think they would be better without the fake four poster it made the room claustrophobic. The bathroom was very clean and basic. Although it was an old traditional Cotswold property you didn’t get the feel that any of it was authentic which was a pity. Parking is not great but there is a large car park which is free within walking distance. My only real disappointment was the gentleman who answered the door to us on arrival. We knew we had arrived an hour early but he was so rude and so unwelcoming we immediately started looking for an alternative place to stay, thankfully our paths didn’t cross again. Not only was he rude he was condescending and patronising. Based on the property and amenities I felt it was rather overpriced and didn’t warrant four stars, there are better B&B’s in the area. Once again, the staff were absolutely lovely and made our stay enjoyable so thanks to them

Just the tonic!
Having been to Cardynham house around 5 years ago we knew what to expect. The location is perfect for a weekend of relaxation. Plenty of walks and beautiful views to admire, its just the tonic to escape from every day hustle and bustle. We stayed in the old Tuscany room and feel it could do with a little TLC although the en suite is large and the fireplace is a beautiful feature. I loved the shutters on the windows!! The view over roof tops for us was a little disappointing but didnt ruin anything as we were out all day. The breakfast gave plenty of choice and really tasty ( pre ordering the night before)..although we felt the service could have been slower! At one point we hadn't finished cereal before the hot course was on it's way!! Friendly staff and a lovely retreat non the less. The Oak next door has been refurbished since our last visit and it hasn't lost its charm. The food there is amazing!...I loved the venison cottage pie so much so I had it twice 🙂!!!

Expected better.
Painswick has a charm all of its own but I felt this hotel was pricey compared to my other stops as I walk the Cotswold Way. We had a rather disturbed night with noise from the courtyard below. Bed not very confortable, staff all friendly, meal decent.

Beautiful city, parking is precarious for the inexperienced driver but ok for the adventuresome. Service and breakfast are excellent. We brought our 8 month old and they were very accommodating. Also the bathtub fit my 6’6” husband which was a lovely perk.

Good Value for Money
Cardynham House was good value for money and right in the centre of Painswick. Room I stayed in was spacious and the bed was comfortable and clean. Breakfast was good too. The room did smell a bit old and dusty and there were tiny cobwebs in and around the ceiling and bathroom but some may say that's common in cottage properties. Overall, good value for money.

Nice hotel owner - John(staff not so great) To be fair the description of the room seemingly mentioned the absence of a window but in my haste I missed that fact. what made me laugh was the presence of a set of curtains on a curtain pole but no window!!!! Maybe it's to give the suggestion of a window? someone has a sense of humour it would seem.

We enjoyed a very comfortable 5 night stay in this quaint inn. Very good breakfasts - basic food choices cooked to order. A couple negatives: the listing says the inn is air conditioned, but on arrival we learned that only one room (without windows) has air - fortunately for us, the weather turned cool. WiFi only works in the lobby area.

Fantastic Stay!
This was our favorite stay in the UK. The beds were amazing! I don't think my daughters and I had ever slept as well as we did here. The history of the town and the local trips were surreal! The restaurant was wonderful. The breakfasts were huge and we also had dinner one night and the food was superb! I would have loved to stay here longer and look forward to going back!

Whilst a little off the beaten track this hotel nestles in the countryside in a beautiful village full of narrow streets and character. The staff could not have done more and the room was very fresh and clean ..... Four poster bed! Food in the restaurant was good

This guest house was everything expected of an ancient Cotswold building. Full of character with a quirky personality, totally charming. The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms extremely clean and warm. Staff all very helpful and the breakfasts excellent, with very good coffee!
