Great place to stay!
We rented this house for our visit to the Tenorio and La Fortuna areas. There were 4 of us (2 couples) so we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy some alone time at night. We did day trips from the house to Volcan Tenorio and Volcan Arenal and we would return to home to sleep. Returning "home" made it a much more enjoyable and relaxing trip than if we had stayed at a hotel. We would have loved staying one more night to just relax but unfortunately we had to return to San Jose to catch our flight back home. Pablo was GREAT and super responsive to our questions, and he checked on us to make sure we were able to arrive to the property and that everything was OK. Thank you so much for having a house like this available, it made our trip much more memorable because of it! Tip: There is a huge tree close to the lake and we saw toucans fly out of there as well as long tails that we assumed were either monkeys or coatis; amazing!

I rented this property because of the hot tub, I have a bad back and the hot tub has always been a relief for long travel times. The hot tub didn't work, contacted the host and he said he was going to contact the maintenance person to come check it out then never got a reply back from him even after several other attempts to contact him asked for a discount and again no reply, the pool area was dirty. The refrigerator wasn't working, had to wait for maintenance person to come taking away our day of vacation and exploring. The pictures are problem from when the property was first advertised like back in the 1900's. They ask to remove your shows but the wood floors had, like termite damage to it, I had to wear my flip flops afraid of stepping into damaged flooring. I was disappointed. I think VRBO needs to address these issues, its like false advertising.

This is a seasoned traveler who likes to find some issue in the house and get a discount. I have never advertised my property for any hydrotherapy or hot tub treatment for back pain while renting this properly . Its evident from actual travelers reviews. Since i did not budge to her request for discounted stay she gave me a bad review. Future clients should pass this review. She also complained of refrigerator not freezing well enough .But as a responsible owner I sent a tech on a weekend from 40 miles away to fix any issue . If not given discount expect bad reviews. There are no termites in the house. We fumigate for every 3 months. On the good side of things this traveler enjoyed the beautiful deck and sat around and enjoyed the lake views with the beautiful breeze and the sounds of birds flying around, enjoyed cable TV in the comfortable living area with great furnitures, enjoyed the 24 hrs hot showers and cooked on the beautiful Italian full kitchen.

We stayed at this property for 8 nights. We found the place spacious and comfortable for 4 adults. We enjoyed the location with its proximity to Towns without being in the middle of it all. A BBQ and some comfortable outdoor furniture would make the beautiful outdoor space even more enjoyable

Lovely stay
Our family loved our stay at Casa Largo. From coffee on the deck to cooking our own meals, everything was perfect. We especially loved the little casita which gave us just that much more privacy during our stay. We’d definitely stay here again.

The property was in need of some minor repairs (lightbulbs, no coffee carafe, confusing light switches, no outside lights in the front) - we got the impression the owner was doing the minimum to keep the property updated. The area was very quiet but remote to the activities we ended up doing. Access to the lake was a mystery. More information on this would have been very helpful. The driving instructions were overly complicated - 3 or 4 sentences with defined distances would make this property much easier to find.

Lovely place
This is a lovely property in a quaint neighborhood. Loved that this had a second master suite. The deck is a lovely a place for morning coffee over looking lake arsenal & watching the birds. Kitchen & living room is very nice & spacious. The 2 things that we had difficulty with was that this house is quite far away from Any activities or tours. We didn’t realize that it is over an hours drive to la fortuna when we booked the house while we don’t regret staying here wish we would have realized the drive time. Secondly the TV was not working & there is really nothing to do if you don’t bring games or a book etc. which really was not a big deal to us except for the first night when we arrived later not wanting to go out but too early for bed. Did not have the opportunity to use the pool or club house however looked nice Overall a really nice stay.

Really hot here
The pictures accurately describe this property and the view is very nice. I've used VRBO for over 20 years and, while I can't put my finger on it, this place fell short of VRBO standards. (This is the first time I've not provided an excellent rating.) The directions to get there were terrible so make sure you look for the bus stop, not the Yacht Club sign! Also, had we not met a man who lived in the development I'm not sure how long we would have waited to get in the gate. You should know that there is no air conditioning in the common areas and it got really hot during the day. (No air conditioning is common in Costa Rica but this place is really warm.) When we arrived there was a huge piece missing from the wood floor.and it is apparent that they have termite damage. (We arrived a day late so I'm not sure why this didn't get fixed in advance!) The casita shows a TV in pics but it isn't hooked up! The bathroom had, at one time, a soap/ shampoo dispenser but it fell off and the backing stayed! Also, air conditioning froze up and TV quit working in main part of the house. Finally, the property manager offered to help us with any excursions yet referred us to a boat owner who didn't speak english..needless to say , that wasn't an option. I think that with a little attention, this place could have been great. However, first impressions being what they are, I can't rate it any higher.

Our home is maintained to the highest of standards and the vast majority of our guests have a wonderful experience. I would like to address some of your stated “concerns” 1. Our rental manager had shared directions with you including GPS coordinates necessary to get to the house and you had responded to these emails, confirming receipt. I apologize for any difficulty you may have experienced effectively utilizing your navigation system. 2. Likewise, the number to enter the gates were emailed / communicated to you. I am glad that a fellow community member was able to assist you with a keypad. 3. As a more secluded, tropical destination, most guests are understanding of fluctuations in the connectivity of electronics. We promptly fixed the AC issue the following day after it broke! I encourage you to return to our home if you would like a TV viewing experience in Costa Rica when we put up a Brand New HDTV. 4. Apologies for the missing panel of wood. Given the humid climate and prevalence of wood in our home, sometimes pieces get warped have to b be replaced. As soon as the materials arrived the next day, this was fixed (Within the duration of your stay!). Lastly, even after you did not show up on the agreed upon check-in date, and then suggested a refund, we worked to provide you with a wonderful stay. We provide our guests with a private, authentic experience in Costa Rica. You were 4 adults and were not even paying for the Casita which was complimentary for you!

Needs work to make this a comfortable place to stay
Everything about the property felt run-down. The couches (which we had read reviews about) were really more uncomfortable than we could even imagine. The location is in a somewhat rundown gated community. The gate itself is the nicest part. The pool is not heated, by a separate building, and not well maintained. The Brisas del Lago restaurant that was recommended was probably the best part of our stay. We left our reservation a day early because there was really nothing enjoyable about being at the house.

We strive to maintain and give the best experience for our clients. Costa Rica weather is wet 1/2 of the year and humid. It is very difficult to maintain a property in a rainforest. Do you know this is one of the best rental properties around in the Arenal area? You never voiced your opinion and concerns to my rental manager during your stay. In fact, when asked you said everything was fine. Sorry and disappointed that we have people like you traveling on a budget and making comments like they live in Four seasons hotel all the time.

Fantastic stay at wonderful property
The property was as pictured and described on the Home Away site. The house is located in what appears to be a very secure, gated community near Tilaran and we felt safe during our stay there. You would definitely want to have a private car or a driver available to get around, as it is too far from town to walk. Everything in the house was clean and in excellent repair, and we really benefitted from having a washer and dryer available. From the porch we had wonderful lake views; we heard the howler monkeys and saw many birds and gorgeous sunsets. The best thing about our stay was the fact that the property manager, Pablo Aguilar Gamboa, served as our personal tour guide and driver throughout our stay. He made sure that we ate delicious food at the best restaurants, spotted wildlife with the most knowledgeable guides, got to see local parks and gardens that aren't listed in Trip Advisor, and arranged for the best tours and activities. He knew how much time it took to get to our destinations, and to do our planned activities, the best time of day (and even the best day) to schedule the activities, and he even helped us with grocery and pharmacy shopping. With Pablo's help we managed to do everything on our "bucket list" and more, without the stress and hassle of managing a rental car and navigating and driving in unfamiliar terrain. Pablo could not have been more gracious or helpful, and he made the difference between an ordinary vacation and a truly extraordinary one. All in all we highly recommend the entire experience.

Lots of potential!
This property has excellent bones and is in a great location. It has the potential to be a five star, however it requires some loving care and attention. The front deck is large and provides a beautiful view of the lake. The furniture in the main room is very uncomfortable, there are holes in the wall and the unit above the stove is not working. The walls in the casita are in poor shape and the tv should either be connected or removed off the floor. Although improvements appear to be underway, the swimming pool area is in need of attention. The refurbished new gate looks great! The owner has prepared a binder filled with suggestions for exploration of the area which is very helpful. Pablo made a special trip to ensure that we were comfortably settled and we appreciated his effort. To reiterate, with just a little attention this property should be a five star!

Beautiful location but house needs care. Furniture is very uncomfortable. Deck is falling through in one location. The TV in the casita is not connected. Hot water faucet does not work in one restroom.Ceiling fans are wobbly and need to be balanced. There are several doors and no two lock alike.

Very secure, clean and well maintained considering the rainforest, insects and humid weather in CR. The house furnitures are done with authenticity of Costa Rica culture. I am glad you are not coming to buy the house. You are just visiting for 4-5 days. Just enjoy life.the house should be worth 250.00/night and you got a very cheap price. Hope you are not coming to CR to watch TV.

Excellent property. Great views.
Very clean modern rental property. Gated community, a bit tricky to find due to poor signs anywhere in Costa Rica. GPS worked great to find it though. Main house has very modern kitchen with new appliances. Fridge door opens wrong way, only complaint there. Lots of room everywhere. Great showers, very comfy beds. Lots of lights from mood lighting to way too bright! Casita (guest house) a great feature when travelling in a group. Everyone liked the beds, showers and location. We kept it clean, so no problem with the ants. Only complaints are the drapes in guest house could be heavier to block light. Friends are late sleepers and had trouble with light in room. We get up early, so no problem for us in the main house. The chairs in living area and on deck are not very comfortable, everyone commented on that. I would rate the property as 5 star, nothing to lower the rating at all.

Beautiful View & Plenty of Room
Positives We stayed 7 days in the property and had an overall great experience. First I will start with Pablo. Pablo was unbelievably responsive. As soon as I would send him a message on Whats App he would reply right away. Also if we were messaging each other and he needed more detail he would call. Pablo is a winner for the property for sure. Comfort of the location was great. All of the beds were comfortable, AC worked great, the wrap around porch is very nice to sit outside or go from the home to the Casita. The kitchen had all the items needed including kid friendly dishes, which we appreciated since we had our 1 and 3 year old with us. This location was great to get around to all of the places we wanted to see. We spent time in Arenal, Venado Caves, La Fortuna, and two waterfalls West of Tilaran. The road to get to the house is a typical Costa Rica rock road and do no think you need a 4X4 (possibly in rain season, but still no big deal). This was in a gated community and we saw all sorts of birds like Toucans and Parrots. Improvements Cover the gas line above the stove with a white cover so it is not exposed. The dryer decides to not work at times and you will need to reset the breaker to it in order for it to start working again. The linens in the bedroom with 2 beds smelled like mold. I would describe it as they were washed and left in the washer and dried in there and then were put on the bed. Also the covers in the closet smelled the same. We just ended up washing them the next morning to not have to deal with that. The Casita air conditioning did not work for the first few days we were there so we had to bunk up, but the owner did get it repaired which we appreciated. The showers in the Casita are a little tricky and the knob falls off on both of them, there has to be some way to secure them, but maybe I am wrong. There were typical ants in the house if you had food crumbs somewhere, typical of Costa Rica. I would replace the cooking pans and get rid of the spice rack (the spice rack looks very bad and has erosion on it). Overall I am just being picky and making sure to relay all of the information I can. The improvements are extremely minimal and we were really impressed with the property and Pablo. I would recommend renting the property.

Wonderful retreat
This home was spacious, clean, fully stocked, and comfortable. We were able to each have plenty of space for privacy, but all enjoyed the common areas, both inside and out. Unfortunately there were quite a few small ants so we had to keep all food items in the refrigerator. But I would definitely stay there again!

Lovely lake house
My husband and I enjoyed our week here and are glad we found this house. The lake view from the front deck is absolutely magnificent. And watching the hummingbirds was a special treat. The house is charming and was clean. We loved the openness of the great room. The architectural design of the ceiling increased the sense of spaciousness. The location is a bit off the beaten path, which we like. It makes trips to area attractions near La Fortuna and Monteverde an adventure. Restraunte Brisas del Lago is amazing and less than a mile away. Nearby Tilaran (5 kilometers) is a wonderful small town and a source for grocery stores. The property manager, Pablo, was very responsive and accommodating. The only ding is that we did not find the living room furniture very comfortable and the house could use a little refreshing.

Arenal area review
Upon our arrival, had an issue getting the key, we did not have any phone service in Costa Rica. Had to wait a while for Pablo to show up, no problem. Went to the pool to find a nice 2 deck pool. All of the just a few chairs were totally broken and just left there unusable. At the villa itself, as previous mentioned in reviews, it’s a little rundown. They are repairing the rail around the balcony, so hopefully they will get to the repairs as well. Inside very open main room that does not have AC, there was a breeze at night though. Bedrooms do have AC. The house was really not cleaned well. Lots of bugs, dirty stained towels, and used bandages left in the bathroom from previous guests. Considering we paid a cleaning fee, thought it would be cleaner. Wi-Fi also a big issue. We enjoyed the location and our local host Pablo, who had lots of area knowledge, was friendly and welcoming!

I have to change A/C units twice a year when I had A/C in the living room. If only some people who rent care! But there are some genuine people who does care our house like their own. Thanks to them. The house was really not cleaned well. - we will talk to the cleaning people about this for sure.Generally they do a great job. Lots of bugs, - This is costa Rica - you should know this. Bugs outside - Gecko Inside . Its normal in CR. we fumigate our house every 2 months inside and outside. dirty stained towels, and used bandages left in the bathroom from previous guests - I will address this with cleaning people. Wi-Fi also a big issue. - What might be the big issue giving you 24 hr free W-Fi as a courtsey! we use the best Internet company available in the area. We enjoyed the location and our local host Pablo, who had lots of area knowledge, was friendly and welcoming! Beautiful home that needs certain updates.
We stayed several weeks in this home with beautiful views of lake Arenal, very relaxing and with easy access to several locations within short and long drives. Our property manager Pablo was very helpful in suggesting various outings and assisting us with certain fixes throughout the house. The town of Tilaran is close by, here you have access to shopping and some very nice restaurants. All in all a most enjoyable stay. The house itself does need some updates, the owner has assured me that they will be taken care of for future guests and I have no doubt that they will appreciate the beauty and location of this very attractive home, enjoy.

Great house, great location, great manager.
The place met our needs perfectly. There were only 2 of us and we found it to be exactly as advertised. Used it as our adventure launch pad for a few days and ate locally with much satisfaction. Pablo the property manager was attentive and offered excellent suggestions for attractions and local amenities. We recommend it and would stay there again.

Sitting in Paradise
Our stay was wonderful. My husband and I shared the detached bungalow while the rest of the group stayed in the main house. For us, the bungalow provided a peaceful privacy. Gathering in the main house was like being at home. The accommodations, the view and location were perfect. We arrived to see the repair man fixing the dryer. We didn't need it so it didn't affect our stay. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Lovely
After spending time on the Pacific coast, we arrived at this wonderful home. The first thing you notice upon walking in is the incredible view of Lake Arenal. It is breathtaking! Breezes blow through the house night and day -- ahhh! We often woke up to rainbows and the sound of toucans and parakeets! The kitchen is wonderful, with modern appliances, master bedroom very comfortable, even the pillows were comfy. There are also two pools in the community and they are very nice. Pablo the property manager, well I can't say enough about Pablo. He was so attentive, and on the spot, when we needed him! We both really appreciated all that he did for us. THANK YOU PABLO. We highly recommend this lovely Lake Arenal home, and are looking forward to returning again. ☮

Nice home by the lake
Very nice home. Had everything we were looking for in a nice quiet location by the lake. Served as a base for travel to the Arenal volcano and Montverde, and a quiet place to enjoy the evenings listening to the birds. Two green parrots were regular visitors. Couple little things like safe not working and 1 air conditioner not working but overall would recommend the home. Directions to the house need to be updated - had difficulty finding it. Yacht club and hotel are no longer open. Property Manager Pablo was helpful in providing information on attractions in the area.

It looks like it happened when you were there and Pablo went to San Jose and got a new A/C fitted in 2 days but unfortunately you were not able to use it. But we took care of the issue as soon as we could. But I am glad you enjoyed your stay. we always provide google maps coordinates to the location, so that nobody has problem finding the location. Great Experience!
We loved our stay at George's Lake Arenal condo! The house manager, Pablo, is wonderful! He stayed late to meet us after our flight was delayed and assisted not only with the house, but also excursion reservations. Our best meal of the trip was one of his breakfast recommendations. Waking up to the lake view, lush scenery and sounds of nature was the best way to start the day. The home is in close proximity to all the attractions that the Arenal area has to offer, and we would have loved to stay for another week to see them all. We had a great experience!

Amazing property only wish we had hadmore time to just relax and enjoy the property itself.
Great property, great service at a very affordable price. Location served our needs perfectly. Good halfway point if you want to visit the two top attractions to the area ie La Fortuna and MonteVerde. Even a better location if you are interested in the world famous windsurfing and kiteboarding launch just 10 minutes away on Lake Arenal. Only challenge is roads are not signed in Costa Rica and if you ask for directions everyone will tell you exactly where to go even if they have absolutely no clue. The written instructions that were emailed were well intentioned but difficult to interpret. Exact mileage data from turnoffs would be extremely helpful especially at night as described signs were very difficult to see.

Relaxing
Quiet and relaxing location after having experienced the activity in CoCo Beach the prior few days. Drove to the volcano area from this beautiful home. Real wood floors; plenty of hot water; very large kitchen; nearby pool make this a natural choice for visiting the Arenal Lake region. A longer drive to the San Jose Airport than anticipated but doable. Liberia Airport makes more sense if this is your destination choice. Pablo was pleasant and helpful with suggestions for sightseeing and dinner.

Very happy with location of house and overall stay
House is located in the beautiful Lake Arenal area. The drive from the airport to Tiliran and Casa Lago itself was very scenic. The directions that the owner provided were very precise. The house is located in a nice, quiet and secure community. Lots of greenery around and a nice view of the lake from the back balcony area. Kitchen was nice and clean, and same with the rooms. Wifi worked well. Pablo, the manager was very helpful and friendly. There were quite a few restaurants closeby. We will definitely recommend this rental to anyone. We have 2 kids and they enjoyed the stay as well!

Pretty Nice Home, Beautiful Views
Overall, it's pretty well maintained house near Lake Arenal. We used this as a getaway place and also our hub for all Arenal activities. The house comes full with appliances, a spacious living room, and an awesome deck to sit out, read, and relax. We enjoyed the house and all the logistics were taken care of us which was appreciated. The only cons we had were the "Yacht Club" nearby does not have nearly as many amenities as anticipated and there were things type duct taped tarps as blinds that could have been upgraded. We loved the location, but if attempting to complete activities closer to La Fortuna, be aware that this location is about a 1.5 hour drive from there.
