The property was neat ,clean and unique. Just love it. Rooms clean and tidy. Bed very comfortable. The restaurant was wonderful and reasonably priced. Good food and good portions. We will recommend El Capitan to our friends and family.

Very concerned driving into town, but once on property, everything changed. Elegant lobby with tiled floor, historical photos, Mexican art. Very professional service.

Had always been curious about it. It was an experience. The room was not what I expected. Room was too small I thought I had reserved a room with a balcony in order to sit outside. Apparently not. Is breakfast the same every day? Staff were wonderful! Better luck next time !

The most unique place that we stayed at on our trip. The restaurant had excellent food and treated us very well. We celebrated our anniversary there and couldn't have been happier.

Beautiful court yard and building. Did not like that we had to push the luggage cart to the parking lot to load our luggage. Paid 45$ for our mini yorkie to stay and when we got up to the room I had to clean dog poop up from the threshold to the bathroom from previous dog.

This historic hotel has so much charm. The rooms are smallish like older buildings are, but very comfortable. We travel with 2 small dogs and we like that some of the rooms have a private, enclosed patio. The restaurant in the building is top notch. Highly recommend.

Quaint hotel but staff is not very courteous to guests. Scolding of employees in front of guests which is very unprofessional. Seemed to have been very short staffed. Did not restock breakfast items and no longer have snacks available during the day. Employees like to sit on guest chairs and visit with each other instead of tending to guests. Key had to be reset every day. Lots of noise in hall late at night. Enjoyed our stay regardless. Rebekah and Katy went out of their ways to make things easy for us though.

We were completely satisfied with our stay at this hotel for our anniversary weekend. Hotel was beautiful, staff was very nice, food at the restraunt was outstanding. We didn't have one complaint. Our balcony was large and private. We were able to bring our little dogs with us. Housekeeping was very curteoys and gave us a water for our puppies.

This is a historic building and charming. The rooms are small but expected for an older hotel. For one night we hung around the charming courtyard and ate food at the restaurant. The drinks and food are excellent. Downside is the surrounding area. It is safe but feels poverty stricken.

This is a great place to stay, definitely a hidden gem in Vanhorn. Clean and comfortable, the bath towels are very soft and high quality. I will definitely book again if I'm in the area.

Beautiful old school hotel. Walls were thin, but patrons were quiet. Bed was confortable, slept well. Nice sitting areas in the lobby with fireplace, great place to sit, read and relax after driving. Breakfast was great. Breakfast tacos, waffles, oatmeal & fruit, should be something for everyone.

Awesome spot in the middle of west Texas! We have stayed at other chain hotels in Van Horn and eh… but this little gem is our go to from now on. Beautiful old hotel, delicious restaurant and bar, friendly staff and so friendly. What else can you ask for? We will be back for sure. Highly recommended!
