When we arrived on Saturday, we had no hot water in the house and all 5 garbage cans outside were overflowing with garbage. There were other undesirable conditions, but the water and garbage were the items that were unacceptable.
I notified Ron the day we arrived about the garbage, and he said he’d ask a neighbor for an additional can. I explained that an animal had gotten into the cans in the back near the pool house and it was a mess, his response was, “raccoons.” We were forced to clean the disgusting, maggot infested, garbage on the ground and take all the cans out to the road just to be able to use the pool area. We could still smell the garbage from the backyard until it was picked up late Tuesday.
Once we confirmed that the lack of hot water wasn’t a fluke – I notified Ron on Sunday. Ron responded saying that the tank probably needed to refill. I explained that not one person has been able to get a hot shower. Ron responded but didn’t seem to believe me – he thought it was user error in the showers. I called Ron Monday morning to emphasize that the lack of hot water was an issue. He had someone come out and it was fixed by late Monday night. For 2-1/2 days we had no hot water.
I had hoped Ron would do the honorable thing and offer some sort of refund, but he didn't even broach the topic, so I requested a refund for the first 2-3 days of our stay. I recognized that he did not cause the conditions we were facing – but that didn’t eliminate his responsibility to deliver a home with hot water and livable conditions. Ron offered a $500 refund which he himself said that the amount offered would “just insult you and you’ll leave a negative review anyway.” It was insulting.
Based on prior negative reviews, Ron will come up with some clever way to discredit me or my review. All I can say is, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT RENTING THIS PROPERTY.
