“Good option close to the airport.”

“Not overly impressed”

While room was clean, the carpet was absolutely filthy! Tons of stains which made the entire room feel dirty. There was an extra charge for parking which was outdoors and full (we had to go to the back of the hotel). While the breakfast buffet was adequate and average, there was a fairly long wait for hot breakfast items and we had to ask several times. I prefer to eat my breakfast all together not 1 item at a time. The service in the dining room for breakfast, however was great, waiter was quite attentive considering the place was obviously understaffed. I just expected more from the Hilton and I have had better stays at lesser known places. I would give this hotel a pass in the future.

“Underwhelmed”

This hotel sadly does not come up to the standard of other Hilton properties at which we've stayed. The beds were comfortable and the location was very convenient. The restaurant was satisfactory. So were the health club and pools. No problem there. However, the room was less than well-maintained. Furniture was in need of repair. And we had an overall impression that it was poorly cleaned. Late one afternoon, we even had to call and request that the daily cleaning be done. When we arrived, there were stains in the toilet bowl. The bathroom taps leaked onto the counter. The bathtub spout was loose, making it difficult to turn on the shower without knocking the spout off. Toiletries were never replaced in the four days we were there. Overall, we were less than satisfied and, while we would recommend the hotel to others, that recommendation would be a qualified (i.e. guarded) one.

Area recommendations

The Forks is a good spot for relaxed shopping. Assinaboine Park and the sculpture garden and zoo are really interesting. The Manitoba Museum is worth a look. The science displays downstairs are a lot of fun for both grown-ups and kids.

Dining

If you like good, mostly North Indian food, try the Clay Pot in the McGillivray-Kenaston area (south west edge of town). Their thalis (veg, non-veg, masala-dosa) are a really good way to introduce the novice to Indian food without overwhelming the taste buds and are satisfying as well for those who are familiar with the cuisines of India. Price is right. Atmosphere is good, casual, not pushy or loud.

“Better options are out there”

This hotel was ok - nothing special, nothing terrible. I think the biggest issue was having to pay extra for parking which is beyond the pale in Winnipeg when they don't offer any electrical outlets for block heaters. Other hotels at the same level with same prices offer free parking with outlets.

“Convenient from Airport”

This hotel was literally just blocks from the airport, and removed all anxiety about how traffic would affect travel time to the airport on our scheduled return day. The hotel was well-kept. The on-site restaurant was fabulous! The only thing I would change is the knowledge level of the staff about the surrounding areas. At an airport hotel, I expect desk staff to have a lot of knowledge about the region, not just the city. I would absolutely stay there again.

“Would stay at this Hilton again.”

Hilton picked us up at the airport within 10 minutes. Workers were courteous. The area is somewhat industrial, & the area is not good for walking. Room was modern, clean, very large, with a frig and more. It was almost like a mini-condo. Food was great, but service was slow. The fire alarm did go off at 10:30 PM one night which was unsettling. The computers available to customers are way slow & often down, so bring your own. All of the good things definitely outweighed the couple of negatives by far, and overall, I would stay again at the Winnipeg Hilton for the same trip purpose absolutely.

The Pancake House at the Forks has the best German Apple Pancakes in the world. I joked that I might come back, all the way from Los Angeles, just for the pancakes.

“Loud pipes”

This was the worst Hilton that I have been to. Anytime the water was used in the neighbooring rooms the water pipes made a sharp, startling noise.

I would recommend The Inn at the Forks. The company that I visited recommended the The Inn at the Forks. The Inn at the Forks is a newer hotel in a great location where 2 rivers meet. I will be staying there during my next visit.

The restaurant was also good. The starring role here, at the hotel and the restaurant, was the cheerful, obliging service.
