Gillian's Wonderland Pier
Experience an old-style amusement park by visiting Gillian’s Wonderland Pier at Ocean City. See the New Jersey coast from the top of one of the biggest Ferris wheels on the east coast. Or, jump on the modern Thrill Zone rides for a faster-paced day out. Gillian’s Wonderland Pier is one of the most popular parks in New Jersey for people who have small children.
Wonderland Pier is run by the legendary Gillian family, who have been in the local amusement park business since the 1920s. Gillian’s Wonderland Pier features over 35 rides and attractions, both indoors and outdoors, and the selection is a mix of traditional 20th-century entertainment and modern, more extreme rides.
To start your day gently and to get your bearings, take a ride on the Giant Wheel, the tall Ferris wheel. The Log Flume is another great option for those with young children. Embark on the Alien Abduction ride, or the Airborne Shot, for an experience that will get your heart pumping. Bumper cars, miniature golf and carousels are great fun too.
Food and drinks are available throughout the park from carnival vendors, and there are children’s menus at all establishments.
Gillian’s Wonderland Pier is located on the boardwalk in Ocean City, about 11 miles (18 kilometers) south of Atlantic City. If you are traveling by car, there is pay parking in the area, but spaces can be hard to find. Buses from Atlantic City also service the area.
Wonderland Pier is free to enter, but rides operate on a pay-as-you-go system. Purchase tickets in bulk to save money. You can get half-priced tickets during the annual Easter sale. There are height restrictions that exclude young children.
Wonderland Pier is open daily and at nights throughout summer. For the rest of the year, there are reduced opening times and days; check the schedule on the website in advance.
