Los Angeles
Downtown Long Beach
Theaters, shopping malls and great restaurants overlook the shimmering ocean in this picturesque hub of culture and the arts.

Scenic palm trees line the busy streets of the iconic Downtown Long Beach district, which is packed full of international restaurants and entertainment venues. Glassy towers stand beside historic buildings in this diverse town center. See the main sights of the city via a walking tour when you visit Downtown Long Beach.

Visit Long Beach City Hall, which opened in 2019. Head inside to see its large public library and retail marketplace. Relax on the grass of the green park beside this important governmental building.

For a sense of the local vibe, stroll down The Promenade and explore its array of cafés and restaurants. Set up a picnic on the grass and let your kids frolic in the playground.

A little southeast is Victory Park, which has an open green space and an area for dogs. Marvel at the excellent views of the ocean from the park. Watch a car race at the adjacent Long Beach Grand Prix.

For a change of scenery, pick up tickets to a recital at the Long Beach Jazz Festival or the Beverly O’Neill Theater. Head north to watch performing arts at the Edison Theatre or consider the large auditorium of the Terrace Theater.

Prepare for purchases at The Streets Shopping Center, an open-air mall with a range of boutiques and restaurants. Look west to spy the top of One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the town.

The Downtown Long Beach district is in the heart of its namesake town, in the southern outskirts of Los Angeles. Travel by metro from the 7th Street/Metro Center stop in Downtown Los Angeles to the 1st Street station of Long Beach. You can also get a shuttle bus directly from the Los Angeles International Airport. Get around the zone by tram.

Continue south to visit other nearby destinations such as Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Laguna Beach.
