Second Stay-Interesting Start

This was my second stay at this hotel. I had a very favorable experience the first time and decided to book here again. I wasn’t disappointed; it is a nice place to stay. The only glitch was at check-in. We were inadvertantly given a room already occupied and it was obvious immediately when we opened the door. We went back to the desk and received another room with no further problems.

Traveler's tip

The hotel is conveniently located right off of Poplar Avenue which has many restaurants and is a great east-west thoroughfare in Memphis. Poplar will take you right downtown to within a few blocks of Beale Street and Mudd Island (about a 15 minute drive. Convenient to the medical centers and U of Memphis as well.

Clean, quite rooms, with excellent staff. We asked for a certain room and we got it. Service is excellent. Price at this facility is also better than others.

My Birthday

For the bucks...the hotel was great! My bestfriend and I traveled here for my birthday and to attend Memphis in May. The hotel stay helped to make it a wonderful stay.

Pay the extra few dollars for the breakfast buffet. It definately saved me money.

Last time it was great

This time I stayed on the same side of the hotel (by the train) and it was super noisy. Last time I couldn’t hear the train at all but this time I could. (Maybe it was just me?) I am a late riser - I work nights. My room was across from the maid’s closet and I was jolted awake every morning at 8:30 by the cleaning crew starting thier day. The elevator was broken, at least the staff was very nice and offered to carry my bags up and down the three flights of stairs. But, don’t want to forget, it was prom weekend so the kids made sure to keep me awake late into the night. They must have been in the room next door because I could hear everything they were saying. I usually swing through town once a year and always stay here. Next year I might try next door.

As expected of all Courtyard, clean and comfortable

The reason I often book with Courtyard is that I know what to expect whichever location I go. Clean & comfortable rooms, clean bathrooms, soft bed with lots of pillos, and efficient front desk.

Great Hotel

We were very happy with this hotel. The location is a little farther from downtown than we thought (about 20 min), but the staff was very helpful. The have printed cards with directions to local attractions that even included suggested places to park.

Room a bit small

We had a king room and overall it was small. Breakfast service was slow; only one woman was working and she had to do everything - seat people, take orders, handle the bills, clean the tables. Beware if you’re in a rush.

Very good standard for a reasonable price

All services very good, despite the location not impressive.

Will return

I decided to switch hotels after spending the previous 4 days in a less than comfortable economy brand as I was needing to finally get some rest. Check-in was a breeze; I normally book direct as many hotels seem to treat you with a bit less professionalism if you prepay using an online site however, this group was the exception. A friendly, courteous staff from the desk to the breakfast crew. Room smelled fresh & clean, bathroom spotless and the king bed was extremely comfortable; I slept like a baby both nights. Extremely convenient to the airport and a coffee shop (you know the one I mean) right down the road.

Choose the room rate that includes breakfast as it will save you anywhere from $5 - $10 per day at most any Courtyard Marriott.

Highly Recommended

The rooms were clean. The staff was very helpful when we had to make a change in our checkout date. The complementary breakfast buffet was not spectacular, but a lot better than the usual offering of doughnuts and bagels. It is a bit far from downtown Memphis if you are planning to go to Graceland or Beale Street (we weren’t) but the neighborhood feels a lot safer than the areas closer in. Would definitely stay there again.

Very Pleased!

This was our first stay in Memphis and didn’t know any thing about where to stay. We were so fortunate to find this hotel! We were very pleased on every level and will definately stay here on future visits.

Good hotel, but too close to RR tracks

This hotel is typical of Marriott Courtyard hotels in general. The room was clean, well appointed, the staff was friendly and efficient, the breakfast buffet was very good. The major problem was that the railroad track is directly across the street from our room and we heard trains all night. Be sure to ask for a room on the side of the hotel away from the RR track.

I travel a great deal and I will say that the staff was the best I have EVER encountered in any of my travels!!!
