Hotel Fron
Not a bad hotel, very centrally located. Near a lot of the clubs which is nice. Reasonably priced. I would stay there again.

Northern Exposure is a hit!
We did not rent a car, so the location of the hotel right on the main street (Laugavegur) was a definite plus. The Flybus (to and from the airport) and a lot of the tour buses will send a small van to pick you up right at the hotel. Very convenient. Breakfast was OK, but could use a little more variety (how about an egg or some herring once in a while). One night, it was so clear we could even see the Northern Lights from our hotel window. Overall, it was very pleasant.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
We took the ferry out to Videy Island. The weather was iffy, so there was no one there. With a close up view of the snow-covered mountains across the bay and nothing but "artic tundra" all around us, it felt like we were a million miles from civilization. It started to snow a little and that completed the image. Our pictures make it look like we are at the North Pole, but were were a 15-minute bus ride from downtown Reykjavik. It was perfect.

Exactly waht we were looking for
Iceland can be an expensive place, but I must say that the Fron is ideal in its juxtaposition of high quality service and affordability. Could not recommend it more highly for people looking for a really great place to stay without breaking the bank.
