The only reason I would not give this place 5 stars in every option is because there is no A/C while eating in the food court. There restaurants on location have A/C and so do their rooms. You can go visit their other hotels within the property. They also have a small shopping center apart from the hotel. The hotels have shops on site as well.

Recently visited with my Sister. We traveled with our kids and partners, the resort itself is big and has a lot of wild life that the kids enjoyed! The staff was very kind and helpful especially at the buffet. My son was still drinking milk from a bottle we would call room service and they would bring us a carton gladly. THE ONLY DOWN SIDE was that only our rooms had ac. For the first two days we were sweating while eating and the kids were very fussy rightfully so. Besides that the pools room and food were good. 7.5/10

My review about Bahía Principle is eh. It’s a beautiful resort, but they could way better. Overall the stay was fine, no issues with the room itself etc. My problem was with the staff itself and not all of them were bad. Edwin who worked at the buffet was amazing, also Enrique who worked at the bar by the pool. I traveled with my husband, two sons and mother in law. When we first checked in my mother in law was on a whole different section of the resort meanwhile we asked ahead of time if we could be placed close together, they stated they never received the message. In order to move her closer, they downgraded her suite, which was fine. Until she went into her room for the first time and there were ppl already assigned to that room. When we went to front desk to tell them, they were very rude and nonchalant about the whole incident. They changed her room again and she was right upstairs from us. When she went into that room her TV didn’t work at all! She had to call 3 times for it to be fixed until it finally was. Also, it was mine and my husband’s anniversary so i went to guest services to have them decorate the room for our anniversary to surprise him. They stated it would be done between the hours of 9-6. IT WAS NEVER DONE. I was so disappointed! Also, like I stated I traveled with my sons who are 9 and 2. I called front desk to ask about juice being put in our mini fridge for the kids, I was given an attitude and told they don’t offer juice for the mini fridge only water

I would not stay at any of the resorts nor would I recommend.it was one thing after another and they didn’t seem to care.

Great stay- incredible staff. The animals running around the property make it very exciting for kids, even just walking to dinner. Clean pools, good food.
Won’t go back to Akumal in June though, as the ocean has a seaweed influx that makes the beach and ocean unsuitable.

First of all the resort is HUGE - you either have to enjoy walking or be ok with taking shuttles around the property to get anywhere. All the restaurants and amenities are highly spread out. My husband and I have been to Cancun/mayan riviera many times but this was the first time we stayed at the Bahia because of our kiddos.
The property grounds are beautiful and well-kept. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the newly renovated rooms - it was gorgeous. However, the rooms shampoo/body wash containers were empty and never refilled, there was no soap in the room to wash your hands etc. We figured this was due to the fact it’s an “eco-conscious” hotel so it allowed them to just forgo all basic room toiletries. Nonetheless, the room was really nice and the beds were comfortable. The kids water parks (tulum and coba) were amazing. The playground looked really cool but it was closed unfortunately.
CONS
Food is horrible - we just stopped eating at the buffet all together because it was just sub-par. The restaurants and drinks were horrible too. We just ate the grilled chicken from andale burger and drank canned beer in the end. To top it off the eating area was like eating in a hotbox - ZERO AC. There was actually no AC anywhere on the resorts except for in your room. So be prepared to sweat and be uncomfortable anywhere you go. It was especially hard on our kiddos.
Don’t stay here if you’re a foodie. We definitely won’t be back even though it was fun for the kids.

The service was amazing. I would change some of the food at the buffet but other than that it was wonderful

Enjoyed our stay. Beach wasn’t usable due to seeweed. Bummer. They were cleaning all week. Food was good. Hard to get reservations at specialty locations. Pool was great. Service phenomenal.
