This spectacular 70+ acre gated property, topping out at over 4,000 ft. of elevation, is the ultimate in North Carolina High Country luxury, with all of the privacy and natural beauty you could ask for. The main home and newly built guest quarters together offer 7,330 heated square feet and sit up on a plateau looking out onto spectacular mountain views. As you drive through the private gated entry way, you'll pass under a canopy of hardwoods opening into a tranquil pasture and orchard, with a pond and brisk mountain stream running the width of the property and under a picturesque stone lined bridge. Pass by the historic mid-1800's cabin playhouse and follow the split rail fence as the driveway winds through the forest. The main home is 6,439 heated square feet and offers 3 master suites, plus a downstairs guest bedroom and a large kids bunk room. Just walking into the foyer, you are immediately struck by the Tennessee flagstone flooring with unique wood inlay. The home was constructed of exquisite hand-hewn white pine throughout, with rugged hardwood flooring and stacked stone fireplace in the great room. The over-sized kitchen and dining area features a spacious counter and bar seating, with a gas range, double stacked wall ovens, Sub-Zero refrigerator and a butler's pantry. There is also a "starter set" of paper products at the house: a roll of toilet paper per bath, several garbage bags, a small vial of dishwashing liquid, a few tablets of dishwasher detergent, some laundry pods, a roll of paper towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some makeup remover cloths. There are enough of these items for one night, or maybe two. We do not provide hair dryers. Towels and linens will be provided. \- Check in is after 4pm and Checkout is by 10am \- Must be at least 25 years old to reserve. This person is required to be the person signing the agreement and must be one of the persons staying in the property for the reserved dates. \- No smoking inside the home. No trace of smoking left outside the home. \- Do not leave food or trash outside as it could attract animals. All trash must be bagged and placed in the trash receptacle indicated in the Welcome Book inside the house or your digital guidebook. \- No parties or gatherings above the posted occupancy allowed at any time. Keep outside noise respectable. \- 4WD/AWD and/or chains recommended during winter (Nov-March) for all homes. Travelers visiting during the winter months where inclement weather may be possible should come prepared with an AWD or 4WD vehicle, and chains may also be required if it snows. This trip was our third week stay at MRE. We vacation in different parts of the country with our family and this select group of friends. We choose gIt’s a serious favorite for us in Western NC. The gorgeous land, its amenities and the joy it brings our group is a 10/10\. It’s a spectacular slice of heaven and we remain We LOVE this property. It’s a serious favorite for us in Western NC. Very grateful the owners share it with the worthy. In LOVE with the Restoration Hardware leather furniture- insanely comfy. The home itself was unfortunately much dirtier this year than in years past. This is our third trip to this specific property. Multiple bathroom rugs that were never washed, hundreds of long dark hairs on bathroom floors, stained bedding, old, worn pillows, dirty socks (that weren’t ours) found in the bunk room bedding. Matney Ridge is an uniquely and beautifully constructed home on a gorgeous, secluded piece of property. It is very well appointed with comfortable and inviting furnishings and the kitchen is very well supplied with ample silverware, plates, and cooking supplies for a large crowd (the multiple large skillets were greatly appreciated!). We enjoyed the very large deck with lots of seating, pool table, hot tub, and exploring the grounds. We stayed at the property in Jan 2022 after a large snowfall - property was well maintained and driveway was cleared For easy access with a 4x4 - snow covered driveway NOT good for 2 wheel Drive - house had plenty ty of room for 5 teenage children and 2 adult families - kitchen was fabulous and very well stocked with everything you need to cook - Hot tub area was one of the best I have ever seen - our teenage kids loved exploring the property and the second set of adults enjoyed the seperate guest quarters over the garage - beds were extremely comfortable - we hope to have a chance to come back for another weekend getaway in the fall ! ##### Jack H. 2022 年 1 月入住 2 晚 ### 10/10 超赞 #### Heather H. 2021 年 7 月 17 日 满意：清洁度 #### Even better in person My goal is to adequately express how amazing this property is. My family (my parents plus 3 sisters with our families) stayed for our annual vacation. Kids range from 2-15 and all loved it. There was plenty of space at the house and property to feel like we all had our own space. We’ve rented houses for 15+ years and all agreed this was our favorite. The pictures don’t do it justice. It was immaculate and fancy yet comfortable. We could tell the owners care well for the property and take pride in their home. The beds and bedding were very comfortable. The furniture was quality and not typical rental junk. The kitchen had everything we needed. The management company was available and helpful. They welcomed us when we arrived to show us around the house. And the acreage. Wow. It was my little slice of heaven. The sunrise view off the back porch was worth waking up for. The whole property was beautiful and worth exploring. For any of you instacart users, I had Publix delivered shortly after we arrived which was awesome. We had 12 folks and several dogs - plenty of room with the 7 bedrooms and most don’t even share a bathroom. Kitchen is well equipped. The house is on over 70 acres with (strenuous) trails to explore. This secluded property was amazing. It has amazing views, a fantastic layout for multiple families, hiking, rope swings next to a creek, not to mention a completely stocked kitchen! Everything you could need for a fantastic get away from it all. I hope to be able to return to this beautiful property in the near future. Our children range from 1 to 8 and they all cried when we had to leave. You can explore the grounds for hours. Again, I cannot say enough great things about this property. All the activities are built in the beautiful property- fishing, hiking, sight seeing, etc. The cabin was very clean and up to date. The property manager reached out to us daily to check in on our stay. We took full advantage of the trails, tree house, and brand new deck, which allowed us to feel like we really escaped reality.
