I've stayed at this property several times over the years, it was a favorite in Tacoma. Common areas need an update, carpets are worn, broken glass in elevators, etc. Room didn't have an iron or ironing board, would have expected for a business/convention type hotel. Had booked a mountain view room, was put in a lower street view room. Didn't bother to complain, as front desk staff seemed preoccupied and not very friendly and I was too tired to move again. Probably won't stay there again.

I had a wonderful time. The room was clean and the location was perfect. One of my favorite hotel experiences. I was able to walk downtown easily, enjoy city views with a balcony, quickly walk to whole foods grocery store for a snack, enjoy a nice big shower. Modern stay lives up to the images. My staff interaction was brief but perfect.
