There were ants in the bed. Dozens. That we didn’t notice til morning. When I flagged a housekeeper she wasn’t surprised. Just said “Yeah, they have a problem with ants here for some reason” and at checkout the girl tried to act surprised and horrified, but basically just said she’d let the manager know. Since it’s a known issue per the housekeeper I don’t foresee the managing doing much. Luckily we were only there the one night on our way to the beach. My 3 year old and 5 year old eagle-eyed every Holiday Inn sign the rest of vacation and announced we can’t stay at the Ant Hotel. This place was a core memory in the worst way.

While the hotel is somewhat outdated, the room was very comfortable and we slept really well. Staff was friendly. They had a good breakfast (better than most). It's a short distance from the C&O Canal, so this was a good stop for bicyclers. The property backs to a farm field, so it was quiet and they even had a small patio area outside to eat breakfast. I would return to stay at this property again if in the vicinity. Not too many dining options in the town, but there were a couple.

Pros: Staff has excellent customer service, was allowed to check in early. Room was clean, area is relatively quiet. cons: There is an alarm that goes off from somewhere nearby that can be annoying. Bathroom had a funny scent that flooded into the rest of the room. The fitness center is tiny, you can realistically fit 2-3 people without bumping into each other. The pool is nice and spacious but had a lot of hair in it.
