    Australia Hotel Travel Guide

Australia, also known by a variety of amusing sobriquets such as Down Under, is an extremely popular destination for tourists. This is somewhat ironic as the country is also one of the most remote in the world.

In many other ways, Australia is a land of contrasts. The continent holds both vast areas of natural beauty and large modern cities such as Sydney. Aboriginal tribes, such as the Maori, live side-by-side with the descendants of the British that colonized the island.

    The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most famous barrier reefs in the world. This reef is known for its beautiful sea life and vibrant coral. The Great Barrier Reef is large enough to spend several days exploring. Most divers leave from Cairns, but if you leave from the lesser-known Port Douglas, you can find dive spots that are less crowded.

    Uluru

Also known as Ayer's Rock, Uluru is one of the oldest rocks in the world, and it is also one of Australia's most iconic attractions. The best time to view Uluru is during sunrise or sunset as the sky looks as though the sun exploded into a burst of breathtaking shades of red and orange. The aborigines of this area consider the rock to be sacred, but they do allow visitors to scale the rock.

    Beaches

Australia has over 50,000 kilometers of coastline. The east coast tends to be busier than the western coast, but both coasts are gorgeous. And with so much coastline, it's easy to find a spot to relax by yourself.

    Surfing

While Australia didn't invent surfing, the sport is deeply ingrained in Australian culture. The east coast is considered by many to be one of the best surf experiences in the country. Beginners and professional surfers alike may find that Noosa beach is a great place to surf together.

    Wine Country

Although France may be more well known for its wine, Australia has its own wine regions, and it produces fine wines. One such region is Margaret River near Perth. A trip to the vineyards is usually a simple day trip from nearby major cities.

    Sydney

Another iconic site in Australia is the Sydney Opera House in Sydney Harbor. This large city is filled with great sites such as the Chinese Garden. There are also some excellent parks and surf spots in Sydney as well.

Stayed for one night, needed to be close to Hyde Park and this hotel had a deal at the time. Nice room, comfy bed, spacious lobby, quick check-in. Got the usual sales pitch about joining the rewards program but didn't mind because it came with a free drink voucher. Booking included in-room wifi. Would stay here again.

Room size and decor was great, loved the view over the atrium Bar is great, service was top notch Some brighter room lights would have been welcome Breakfast was the only disappointment- really expensive with cold food, disappointing standard - bread was awful with limited choice Needs to be able to compete with all the amazing boutique cafes surrounding it

    "Great location"
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Melbourne, the hotel was in a very handy location, a short walk to Southern Cross Station, and also to free trams running along Bourke Street and Lonsdale Street. We liked the friendly staff, very pleasant and helpful, and the buffet breakfast was a great start to the day. The room was clean and serviceable, and the airconditioning kept it at a comfortable temperature. Although this had to be turned off at night, as it was too noisy to sleep with it going. The bathroom was cramped, and so was the shower over the bath. But these are minor inconveniences, the room was good value for money, the bed was comfortable and the linen was clean.

"Great Hotel. Would definitely stay there again."
Great Hotel. I had a pleasant 3 night stay. Staff friendly & helpful. Wonderful spa service. Good breakfast buffet & room service. Very nice pool area. Room, bathroom & balcony quite spacious with nice water views from 11 floor. Walking distance to the main points of interest, Casino, esplanade, night markets food & shops. Only a couple of issues need mentioning. One of the lifts was out of order, which left the other two very busy considering it was a weekend & the size of the hotel. The lifts are not smooth and don't line up to the floor when they stop. The other issue was, the room had a very strong mouldy smell. Had to turn the air conditioner off & open the doors which helped a bit, so I think they may need to service the aircon. Having traveled extensively to the tropics, it was the first time I've experienced such a strong smell.
