Our stay at Riu Guanacaste was extremely disappointing, and unfortunately, the overall experience did not meet the standards we expected from a Riu resort. The poor experience started from the moment we arrived. There was no one available to assist us with our luggage during check-in, and no one offered to help us get to our room. For a large all-inclusive resort, this was a very disappointing first impression. The food was one of our biggest disappointments. The quality and selection at the buffet were poor, and we were also very disappointed with the specialty restaurants. We tried for THREE DAYS to make a reservation at the steakhouse, but the app was not working properly. Guests should not have to spend several days trying to make a dinner reservation because the resort's system does not work. The pool towel situation was also unacceptable. There were repeatedly no towels available at the pool, and we were told several times that the washing machine was broken. This happened often enough that it became frustrating. At an all-inclusive resort, guests should not have to repeatedly search or wait for something as basic as a clean pool towel. When you combine the lack of service at arrival, poor food, problems making restaurant reservations, and the constant shortage of pool towels, it gives the impression that the resort is not being managed at the level it should be.
