“Staff were amazing on reception and a shout out to the male manager(?) next door at Beefeater! Excellent service! Room was sufficient for our needs the only thing that would be great would be a smart tv in the room!”

“The staff were amazing at this hotel—it is a basic hotel with a nice continental breakfast and a few hot items in the morning. it’s reasonably priced. we arrived in Darlington and unexpectedly, our other hotel did not work out. We had no hotel and were panicked! We were so glad that this hotel still had vacancy and was even able to accommodate the bed type that we wanted. “Comfy room, generous towels. Arrived late Friday evening, no bother getting a table in the pub downstairs for food- they don't take table reservations, so I wasn't at a disadvantage. Good wide choice on the menu and attentive service. There was a nightwatchman for after hours- what a treasure! He showed me how to access once the pub was closed, helped me empty the bags from the car and carried them to our room all with a friendly, nothing was too much trouble approach. A real asset to the Old……

Unfortunately the spa was very full and therefore not enjoyable and we had a terrible nights sleep because there is zero soundproofing, we could hear everything from the room above us and any movement in the corridor.
