Welcome to EarthJOY Treehouse Village!
We’re thrilled you found us! Nestled deep in nature, our village is a sanctuary for those who seek adventure, unplug from technology, and embrace the magic of the outdoors. If you love to play, explore, and experience one-of-a-kind stays, you’re in the right place.
The treehouse you’re viewing is best suited for two adults and 3-4 children. Before booking, please take a moment to read through the details below to ensure this unique treehouse experience aligns with your expectations.
Your Treehouse Stay
This enchanting treehouse features a king-size bed and three cozy hammocks in the living space. The hammocks easily clip to the side when not in use, allowing for more open space. A detached private bathroom with a shower, sink, and toilet is just a three-minute walk away for your convenience.
At EarthJOY Treehouse Village, we offer three stunning treehouses spread across 285 acres of private land—far enough apart for privacy yet close enough to rent together for a group adventure. Think of us as a luxury glamping experience where you’re deeply connected to nature through the treehouse’s artificial limbs that intertwine with the surrounding trees.
Inside Your Treehouse
Designed by the legendary Pete Nelson (a.k.a. the Treehouse Master), this treehouse was featured on Animal Planet’s "Treehouse Masters" in Season 4, Episode 6 as The Kentucky Climbers Cottage! It’s our largest floor plan, boasting an oversized loft, a wood-burning stove, and an open-concept design that brings nature inside through its charming barn doors.
Your treehouse is off-grid yet still equipped with essential comforts:
Electricity & Lighting
Full Kitchenette – Four-burner stove, mini-fridge, and all necessary cookware
Climate Control – Air conditioning, a space heater, and a wood-burning stove for cozy nights
Private Bathhouse – A short 3-minute walk with a flushing toilet, shower, towels, and toiletries
Compost Toilet – Just five seconds from your treehouse for quick trips at night
Outdoor Adventure Awaits
Step outside, and an entire enchanted forest awaits you! Beneath your treehouse, you’ll find:
A fire pit surrounded by four Adirondack chairs
A giant, netted hammock suspended under the treehouse
A swinging chair to soak in the sights and sounds of nature
Our 20 miles of themed hiking trails invite you to explore landscapes filled with hidden wonders:
The Hobbit Treehouse Trail – Seek out 10 hidden hobbit houses, then make a wish in the magical creek beneath the oldest tree on the property.
Cabana Village Trail – Lounge in a suspended tree pod built for two, perfect for reading, meditating, or even drumming the floor to create a giant musical instrument!
Jacob’s Ladders Trail – A prayerful memorial path where guests hang wind chimes to honor lost loved ones, whispering memories into the forest.
The Sunset Trail – Trek to a 360-degree panoramic overlook, perfect for golden hour magic.
Star Gazer Field – Certified as a Dark Sky Area, offering breathtaking views of the Milky Way.
For thrill-seekers, The Five Tree Grove offers guided tree climbing experiences, where a professional facilitator will take you to the treetops! Learn special climbing techniques—including how to descend upside-down—or lounge in the massive green net among the branches.
Additional Details & Recommendations
Wood for the Stove: Order a bundle of firewood delivered to your treehouse for $50 per load (about 25 pieces, enough for one night), or bring your own (logs must be 12 inches or shorter). We recommend bringing a fire starter unless you’re an expert fire-builder!
Check-In: 4:00 PM standard check-in. Want to arrive earlier? A 1:30 PM early check-in is available for $50 (paid directly to our cleaning crew). We highly recommend booking two nights to fully immerse yourself in everything the property has to offer.
Wildlife & Nature: You are deep in the woods, so expect to encounter deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits, owls, and occasionally cows and horses! While rare, you may see the occasional mouse, wasp, or flying insect—especially if you leave the barn doors open overnight (we advise closing them before heading out).
Explore the Surrounding Area
Beyond the treehouse, you’ll find hidden gems in historic small towns nearby:
Augusta, KY – Stroll along the Ohio River, visit George Clooney’s childhood hometown, and grab a bite at the Beehive Tavern for riverside fine dining.
Ripley, OH – Take a charming ferry ride across the river and explore a town steeped in Underground Railroad history.
Maysville, KY – A historic downtown with fantastic dining at Parc Café (an Italian café replica) and Lil’ Jumbo, a local favorite.
Quick Eats & Essentials – Need a quick bite? Order a pizza from the Germantown First Stop gas station (just four miles away), or stock up on supplies there.
A Dream That Became Reality
This treehouse isn’t just a place to stay—it’s the realization of a childhood dream.
As a child, I longed for a treehouse where I could find peace and adventure. My siblings and I would play in the woods, building imaginary treehouses from branches, moss, and stones. That dream never faded.
In 2007, my husband Bill and I launched EarthJOY Tree Adventures, offering guided tree climbs. We wanted our guests to not only climb trees—but live among them. In 2009, we attended Pete Nelson’s Treehouse Workshop and searched endlessly for the perfect land—until fate stepped in.
One day, on a whim, I applied to Animal Planet’s "Treehouse Masters." When they called to say we’d been selected, I had no land to offer. That’s when I called my dad.
"Can we build a treehouse on your farm?" I asked.
He laughed, then said, "YES!" His dream of running a massive cattle farm shifted, and our treehouse dream took root instead.
In December 2014, our dream became a reality. Not only do we enjoy the treehouses ourselves, but we love sharing this magic with others. Our guests don’t just stay in a treehouse—they become part of its story.
Now, it’s your turn.
Come lose yourself in the magic of the forest, embrace the adventure that awaits, and find peace in the treetops.
Your enchanted escape begins here.
