Weekend getaway

Beautiful views, lovely bedrooms, comfortable home. Loved the big yard and beach access. The outdoor Christmas lights were a nice touch. Walking distance to market, restaurants, coffee shop, bookstore, town and coastal trails. We’ll be back!

Wonderful

My sisters and I stayed here for 4 nights celebrating 2 birthdays. The house was perfect- so comfortable and the setting is glorious- the beach is a short walk from the property and is so beautiful. We also enjoyed walking along the bluff and exploring the town. We will be back for sure!!!

Great getaway

Our family stayed here for two nights over a weekend and really appreciated the house and its location. It was clean, beds were comfortable, and we all had fun exploring the yard and its neat surprises, the beach, local trails, and access to yummy food in town. The owner was very communicative and helpful. Five stars!

Wonderful Comfy Beach Housebeds

Beds were super comfy. Kitchen is fabulous!! Lovely fireplace and cozy couch.Went kayaking on the river and toe dipping in the ocean. Had very good meals in town at Fog Eater and Trilium. Pizzas from the Beaujolais also excellent. Fun time! Lots to do. We'll be back!

Quaint Cinderella Cottage

Loved this property, it is not the fanciest or biggest house but it is very quaint and comfortable. Kitchen was probably the best stocked kitchen with every appliance you could ever need. Love the path to the beach and would definitely stay here again. If I had one complaint it would be the upstairs bedroom to the right would benefit from a memory foam topper as bed is very very firm but all in all a great house.

Awesome stay!

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at the Cinderella House and had a magical experience. We had so much fun exploring the property; surprises around every corner. The location can't be beat. We could walk everywhere. Our bed was super comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. We enjoyed dinner at La Luna Italian restaurant and watching the Warriors game at Pattersons. Looking forward to going back one of these days!

Graciousness while under fire, someone literally!

Overall, we had an excellent experience with this charming home and its gracious host. Unfortunately, when we arrived in Mendocino, the power was off so we had no heat, cooking capability, or water because the well requires a pump. We now have tremendous empathy for what Californians are going through and hope to return to this fabulous property under better circumstances next time. The host refunded our payment and we very much appreciated that. If it weren’t for our fluky timing, everything would’ve been absolutely perfect.

Pleasant house

My husband, daughter, son-in- law and I enjoyed this house. It was the only VRBO I found in Mendocino that had king-sized beds in 2 of the bedrooms, so although it has a 3rd bedroom which we didn't need I rented it. The kitchen was well equiped although we were not cooking. They did not skimp on the matresses, pillows and bedding. The back yard is interesting. We did have difficulty getting into the lock boxes - host needs to explain them better - and the lock to the door was very difficult which we pointed out to the owner who came by. The path to the beach is a bit of a hazzard, but there is a good path behind the church 2 doors down. We had a wonderful meal at the Italian restaurant - I forget the name - that is just 3 blocks away, but if you are interested be sure to make a reservation. Also enjoyed The Wharf in Fort Bragg, and I also suggest reservations there. We were blessed with sunshine and no rain, but it is windy and thus can be cold in unprotected areas.

Revisit to Childhood Home

First, communication with Gary was great and I am are so happy we were able to stay in the “Cinderella House”. I lived in this house in the late 1950’s and have been wanting to stay here ever since it became available as a rental. I’m thrilled that Gary researched and provided historical information that I didn’t previously know about the house and previous owners. I appreciate that he has kept as much as he could of the original house. It does make it a little quirky, but that is really what makes the house charming and relevant to the charm of Mendocino, as it was just a sleepy fishing town in the 50’s.The beds were comfortable, kitchen had everything we needed and the backyard was amazing! The crab apple tree that I remember is still there and now creates an umbrella for a special area that I would’ve loved to have had as a child (I won’t spoil the surprise by going into detail). And then there’s the treehouse … and all the amazing artwork to enjoy throughout the yard.The items in the yard that have been collected over the years contained a wonderful surprise for our family (see Texaco truck photo of my brother). Who knows what else we may have left behind that now has a wonderful place for all to enjoy. Last, by not least, the view of Big River and the ability to walk down to the beach. Stunning and peaceful. I hope to bring my siblings back next time we rent this house. Thank you, Gary, for sharing your house so I could take a wonderful walk down memory lane.

Fantastic!

My husband ran the Mendocino 50k and we walked to the start/finish from the house, and also out to dinner. The yard is lovely! We have an old grandpa puppy and he also enjoyed his stay.

Mendocino Magic

We had a wonderful time in this charming house with a huge yard full of art and toys and a view and path to the beach. Our grandchildren's favorite spot is a large bush with a secret room inside with table and chairs and pots for making magic potion.

Old time Mendocino

I felt at home the minute I walked in. This is one of the early Mendocino houses and you feel it. It has character and plenty of comfortable places to sit and read or gather - inside and outside. I love the path to the beach which I walked early in the morning and at sunset. I hope I can come back one day for a longer period.

A great find

This place stands out as a truly exceptional find, both the house and the large back yard have a lot of character and charm. Every corner seems to hold a surprise, with an eclectic array of artwork adorning the walls and outdoor spaces. It’s also great that the beach is just a 5-minute walk down your own private path. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and am already planning my return visit. For those seeking a vacation rental with character, tranquility, and easy beach access, I highly recommend this.

terrific way to visit Mendocino

Property is magical. Old house vibe with modern core. Great back yard, with beach views and easy beach access. Location is ab fab - steps from downtown and easy drive to all locations nearby. Kitchen well planned and equipped. Bedrooms large with updated beds. Baths clean and well stocked. Easy parking and access. Very welcoming living and entertaining (dining) area. Technology A+. Friends who live in the area visited us and said this is one of the best rentals sites they have seen. We'll be back, for sure.

Relaxing vacation!

We enjoyed a very relaxing vacation at this charming house by the beach. The house was comfortable, with all the amenities one could ask for to ensure a pleasant stay. The backyard is beautiful and offers a serene spot to enjoy morning coffee. The beach is only a 10 minute walk, with a trail with stairs at the top. The bottom of the trail could use some trimming of the bushes, as they were very overgrown. The house is close to shops and restaurants. Overall, it is a perfect blend of comfort and convenience.
