"This wonderful older building became a hotel in 1900, which might have been the occasion of the last renovation. Today, faded glory is probably the best description. I stayed in Room 1, a room that should not be used for guest accommodation. It looks onto a square but, perhaps for preservation reasons, there is no attempt a sound mitigation at all. Similarly, all the noise from the lobby, bar area arrives unfiltered into Room 1, which on a Friday night continued into the wee, small hours."

"It is a beautiful property. However, if you are not staying here with small children you may be disappointed. The hotel clearly markets itself as very child and family friendly, and it has dedicated children’s areas that are very close to main areas such as the dining room. As a result it is not peaceful in many areas of the property. Even dedicated adult swimming pool hours in the spa are not respected by guests with their children. And the dining room at dinner was not at all peaceful. They should work toward separating the noise from main areas, as they have plenty of space. Also, one should avoid Room 207 as it is adjacent to the housekeeping staging area and one can hear noises of the linen carts throughout the day. "

It is in an old Convent, but they have redone everything and the rooms are very modern, but you can walk the whole building and see several hundred years of history. "The people were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was excellent! The grounds and view excellent! There was not much staff on the premises and we had just arrived from a Relais & Chateau which was pretty much the same price so in comparison this destination was lacking BUT if you are going to Monsaraz and want to relax after your day of visiting I would still highly recommend since nothing in the area is comparable and the place is very beautiful and enjoyable!"
