They advertise as a tranquil, quiet escape, but they also cater to families. While we were there the place was completely overrun with screaming children. And inattentive parents. There was no where to go on property that was peaceful or quiet, including the spa, They have rules for kids (limited hours in the pool) but they are not enforced so it was difficult, (impossible) for adults to use the pool. The lobby bar area was overrun with families on Saturday night so there was no where to go to have an adult dinner (the dining room was full with families and kids running around). I love kids, but was looking for a peaceful two day getaway. I hope they can figure out a way to accommodate everyone on this lovely property." Sitting under a covered porch, late afternoon, watching and listening to birds, in the background you can hear a rooster, the clanking of bells from cattle in a nearby field, all taking place in a light rain. One of us mentioned the WIFI was a little weak, we looked at each other and shrugged. Didn’t come here for WIFI. The breakfast was very good, and everyone has a smile on their face. There’s a rock monolith within walking distance, and the castle is a five minute drive. Vineyards, olive trees,…honestly, paradise. In our case we left the window in our front door open, to access WIFI. A minor inconvenience. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn’t. We slept great, and after two nights, we were sorry to leave. God, I love this country. We spent one morning just going around the building and reading about its history. The problem here is the expectations they create. This is not a luxury hotel with haute cuisine. It's a simple accommodation in a historic building, and if they had set my expectations accordingly I would probably leave a better review. It's worth visiting, the staff is nice and we enjoyed our time. Just don't expect a luxurious experience with exceptional food, because that's not what you'll get. Our bathroom had a leak, the shower head was tilted in a strange way, and there was a pistaccio shell on the floor of our suite's living room from the day we arrived until we left, despite daily cleaning."
