Shell island beach is going through a renovation (I suppose due to the devastation of the hurricane a few years back). Elevators, pool and tennis courts are not available, but the unit was very clean and well appointed. Management communicated with us several times to let us know of the condition of the amenities etc. Overall, we had a positive experience.

Meh, we were put in room 105, across from stairwell, noisy.
Room was clean and well appointed, there was entire strip of tile missing in the bathroom, weird and ugly.
The nightlight in the bathroom stays on 24/7. This normally would not be a problem except for the fact that the bathroom door has opaque glass panels.
Pool bar has ridiculous prices...27.95 for two Titos and sodas!!!
All of the above could have been overlooked had it not been for the fact that there were no umbrellas provided at the beach. Chaise lounges, but no umbrellas...drumroll, they sell them at the office for 35.00. Tiny, Panama Jack umbrellas. That was the nail in the coffin for me...gauche, to say the least.
It was as if you were on a cruise and ANYTHING was extra.
Lots of other places to stay at on Sanibel, i suggest you keep looking.
