Won't go back to the Iberostar

Posted Oct 4, 2015
Pros: The beach area and easy access around the hotel.
Cons: Rooms need updating. Quality of food needs to improve greatly. The large pool needs to be shallower so you can swim and stand in the pool.
Location: You can walk to a Starbucks for free Wi-Fi just down the street and there are some shops. Stay away from the main downtown shopping center.
Lot's of small negative things lead to a bad experience at this hotel. First, we didn't get the room we had requested with a king size bed. We saw empty rooms and the staff said there were none available. The place only looked around 50% occupied. We didn't even get to check into our room before getting the hard sell for joining the rewards club. They wouldn't take no for an answer and they expect you to give them your credit cards. They even called the next morning. No means no! Rooms beds were terrible and the TV had to be fixed. The buffet food is horrible and drinks were watered down. We did get to eat in the Japanese restaurant one night and it was OK. The beach area is very nice and well maintained. We spent every day there. The service in the beach area was non existent the first two days. We had to wait on ourselves. Tried to swim at the large pool but it is over 5 1/2 feet deep and you have to be 6 foot or taller to stand in it. It was empty all of the time. The staff were very friendly during the stay expect the towel guy who chewed me out for placing my dirty towels on his clean towel at the window. Went to downtown and was harassed constantly by the shop owners to come into their store. Wouldn't go into a store that did that. The same stores are repeated ever other block so it didn't take long to figure it out and head back to the hotel. Overall the trip was a bad experience and I will not be going back to Playa or the Iberostar.

Pros: Every thing.
Cons: Re do the rooms.
Location: There was a lot to do near by, plenty of things to do.
My husband stayed for a week we loved every thing about the property. The room needs some new beds and a dresser and a clock in the room. Other wise it would be perfect.

4th Stay at the Tucan/Quetzal

Posted Sep 15, 2015
Pros: We love the Yucatan feel of this place - the jungle atmosphere and the wildlife that roam freely throughout the property.
Cons: The unwilligness of people to share the paths. There are some rude guests. I guess you encounter rudeness everywhere though.
Location: The town of Playa Del Carmen is a nice walk or a 5 min cab ride away. Lots of restaurants, bars, & shops on Avenida 5.
Our 4th time at this Iberostar. Here are a few things that we love: 1. Amazing grounds - so much attention to detail. Every path through this resort has a magnificent view with sights and sounds of a tropical paradise. The staff are constantly maintaining the grounds. This place is beautiful. 2. The pool is massive with an activity side and a quieter side, and an adult swim up bar. There is something for everyone here. 3. The beach is breathtaking with white sands and torquoise water. 4. Rooms are spacious and very clean with nice ammenities. 5. Staff are courteous, professional and very accomodating. The Starfriends are great too. They really work hard and it shows! 6. The open-air of the lobbies and the restaurants. We love it. I know some who prefer A/C, but when in Mexico, it just feels right!

Nice eco hotel

Posted Sep 14, 2015
Pros: The feel that you were were in touch with nature and it's peaceful surroundings
Cons: Free internet service, clean some of the areas were the koy fish are kept.
Location: Plenty of things to do, too many to name. Would need at least a couple of weeks to get to know the area.
Enjoyed our stay very much. Low key, just what we where looking for. The nature feel of the hotel and it's wildlife, the animals walking around the guest made it feel peaceful. The only small drawback is that they had some construction going on and the fact that you have to pay for internet service seem greedy. Most smaller resorts and hotels offer this service for free. Hopefully if we stay here next time they will think of changing their policy. Other than that everything was excellent. Would definitely stay here for a fourth time.

The food was good, the room was always clean, room looks kinda old, shower looks very old, most of the staff are friendly and fun, hotel close to the beach.
Siamo stati benissimo. Eravamo già stati all'Iberostar a Bayahibe e c'eravamo trovati molto bene. Super consigliato!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Second visit. Not so happy

Posted Aug 31, 2015
We booked ocean front room, as we checked in the room we don't have a view blocked with coconut tree leaves, room sink doesn;t work. We asked to switch and they charged 150 dollars. On a positive side we met a wonderful employee FANNY that works in tucan lounge bar is really helpful and made our day the best. Front desk help is really poor. Food is OK. Lots of things changed and customer service is poor. We will prefer something else next time.

Pros: Food was very good and the wait staff was very friendly.
Cons: The sidewalks through the jungle are not very even and could be a falling hazard.
We really liked the Iberostar Tucan and Quetzal. Since the hotels are next to each other, we used both. Grounds are very pretty and well maintained. Beach is great, they did a great job cleaning up the seaweed. We had a special requests; we had two rooms and wanted them close to each other. They reception staff accomplished this very easily. The process of getting dinner reservations was fairly easy, just had to go up front early in the day. Beds were very comfortable! I would go back to this resort.

We are very happy to know that you had a wonderful time with us and you were satisfied with our tasty food, comfortable rooms and our beautiful and clean facilities. As you remark it, we have some issues with the seaweed on all the Caribbean, but our employees do the best to keep it clean.
