Let me start out by saying the trip package was quite a bit less than some of the others for the same location. Price wise I feel like we got a deal. The hotel itself is beautiful and rooms are comfortable if a little outdated. They keep the entire facility very clean. There's sort of a nature park in between the main hotel and the pool/beach area full of animals and is very cool and not something you typically see. The pool is great and the beach is even better. They have a bunch of thatch umbrellas and it's not hard to get a spot if you show up before 10.
Our impression was it felt like a really nice hotel that management decided to try eek out all the profit they could. There's heaps of food but most of it wasn't very good or flavorful. This was our biggest disappointment. They only let you sign up in advanced at two of the signature restaurants and they only permit one employee handle the reservations. Any others have to be made at 9 AM which invariably resulted in a line of unhappy people. We also were approached several times to attend a 90 minute sales pitch for signing up with Iberostar. They offered some free stuff in return, but seriously who wants to do that on their vacation?
