History lovers won’t want to miss a trip to the evocative ruins of Helmsley Castle (0.5 miles) or take a scenic walk to Duncombe Park (1 mile), a grand stately home with beautiful grounds. For keen walkers and cyclists, Helmsley marks the start of both the Cleveland Way and Ebor Way. Head to Pickering (13 miles) to hop aboard a heritage line all the way to the coast at Whitby (30 miles). Other day trips include Castle Howard (13 miles) or the medieval marvels of York (24 miles).

On arrival, you’ll pass through a handy hallway – perfect for boots, coats and drying off muddy paws – before heading into the inviting lounge. Here, traditional beams set the scene for relaxed and cosy evenings. Sink into the cosy sofas for a film night on the Smart TV, all set on attractive wooden floors. The rear of the house opens into a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast area, including a coffee machine so you can start each day with a proper brew.
