Foodies flock to Chapinero-Zona G, or its inner neighborhood, Quinta Camacho, for the city's widest variety of culinary offerings. Head out from your hotel for amazing Italian food, Peruvian specialties, sushi, and traditional Colombian cuisine. There's a small range of microbreweries to try as well. For budget-friendly, mouthwatering street food, stay in Usaquen, also a hot spot for Asian fusion restaurants. Look for a hotel near the popular Usaquen Sunday Flea Market for local snacks and souvenir shopping. To be on the cusp of up-and-coming kitchens, stay in the neighborhoods of La Macarena and Chico.

Reserve a hotel in the historic and cultural center of Bogota, La Candelaria, whose origins go back to the 1530s. Art lovers adore this district for its colonial ambiance, the Museo Botero, with more than 200 pieces of world-famous artwork, and the Museo del Oro where there are over 34,000 gold artifacts. The neighborhood is also home to the always-buzzing Plaza Bolivar and important historic landmarks, including Iglesia del Carmen and Palacio de Narino. From a hotel in La Candelaria, it's an easy walk to these major landmarks, making sightseeing a breeze. The area is also convenient to the funicular to the top of Cerro de Monserrate.

For a breath of fresh air, seek accommodations in Teusaquillo, an easy walk from the city's major landmarks and home to the massive Simon Bolivar Metropolitan Park. Walk dozens of trails, paddle the lake, or attend an exciting sporting event. Parque 93, to the north of Zona Rosa (or Zona T) is another prime place to stay for outdoor activity. The park has many temporary art installations, tranquil pathways, and a number of romantic spots to wine and dine. Alternatively, stay in the quiet Centro International financial district with its welcome green oases, Parque de la Independencia and Parque Bavaria.
