“We were looking for somewhere nearby-ish Decorah to stay for the weekend. This cabin was a great place for my husband and I and our pup! It had everything we needed for a nice weekend away. I enjoyed sitting on the deck overlooking the lake, and watching a pair of geese with their new babies.”

“The converted jail was such an interesting and unique place to stay. The property is beautiful, the house and room were clean and inviting, and the cell block was a great place to hang out and explore. We loved morning coffee on the balcony and the fabulous whirlpool tub for relaxing. Make sure to check out the incredible food at the local Algerian restaurant, and a lovely river walk, or explore the four story antique mall in town!”

“The cabon was great, we really got the quiet and peacefull time we were hoping. Fairly short drive to nice state parks in the area.”

“Good location, a bit noisier than I expected due to trains during the night and some construction. Close to Yellow River Forest, Effigy Mounds and Pikes Peak State Park. Comfortable furniture and bed. Kitchen area includes microwave and small fridge, no sink. Looked like a nice fireplace which I did not use. Shopping, but few restaurants of note on main street; a couple of bars and one gourmet store. Kwik Star right across the street which was convenient. Host was friendly and accessible.”

“We had a nice stay at Black Bear Cabin. Short distance to tourist attractions. Hot tub was enjoyed and the beds were comfortable. Some things that might help improve the stay for others would be: dish towels for easier kitchen clean up, ability to plug in deck lighting, hooks or shelving in rooms for towels and clothes, end tables in the queen bed rooms, and fresh batteries for basement remote. The kitchen had all the tools we needed for cooking. Great place for meditating and quality time. ”

“Cabin was perfect for what we needed. Even was able to grill this time because the grill got hot enough. Last time filled tank and grill wouldn’t heat up. The deck needs a little TLC ”

“The house was clean and fit the needs of our large group (6 adults and 4 kids). The hot tub didn’t work the 2nd day and the host responded with some trouble shooting ideas but still didn’t work. We also had some issues with the fridge in the kitchen not being cold enough but there was a second one so that was helpful. Outdoor fire pit and grill was a bonus for dinner and hanging out at night. Minor inconveniences along the way but overall was fine for our purposes.”
