“It was pretty empty so we almost had the entire hotel to ourselves. The beach and the premises are beautiful and the room was large and airy. The staff were pretty inconsistent, with some rather distant and others really great to chat with. It was Ramadan so it is understandable. Some areas of the hotel could need some renovation. “Nice basic accommodation in a great location. Rooms are comfortable and clean but no frills. Pool area is nice, the bar next to it is good for cheap beer and snacks. Restaurant on-site is pretty good. Air conditioning costs extra but I think it's reasonable (plus it cools off enough at night to where it's not necessary, especially for downstairs rooms). “Officially the Kairaba is still rated as a 5* hotel, the only one as far as we know in Gambia.
