The property is an old hotel with a history of being a Victorian spa. Parts of the hotel are run down, however the room was spacious and clean. Beautiful scenery. We arrived a little early so our room was not ready - this was fine. The receptionist was rather officious and not particularly welcoming. We were asked to complete a hard copy form for our check-in details which was fine but we were not given a key to our room, so we could sit in the reception area (spacious and comfortable) in readiness to go to our room when ready. The receptionist never called us when the room was in fact ready. We were fortunate to ask a the desk to enquire about our room just as a large coach load of guests arrived. Had we not done so we would have had to wait until the coach load were checked in! The hotel was great but the check-in was not efficient or welcoming.

Wir waren nur zum Schlafen und Frühstücken im Hotel, ansonsten immer in der Umgebung unterwegs. Am Abreisetag zeigte man sich flexibel so dass wir schon vor der eigentlichen Frühstückszeit noch ein kleines Frühstück zu uns nehmen konnten. Häufig reisten ganze Busse an und ab. Es war in der Umgebung und auch nachts schön ruhig, das hat uns besonders gefallen.

The room should have been serviced on the 2nd day of our stay but was missed. When brought to their attention, only a small part of what should have been done was done. The hotel was servicing many coach loads of people with too few staff.

Personnel lacked commitment. Breakfast fast was borderline, empty trays were not filled up when there was plenty of breakfast-time to go. We booked a premium room which was a good size and newly refurbished. Mattress was new and firm as required. Bed size could have been a little larger. Nice bed cover. Adequate free parking facilities. Lift more than dated.

Oh dear catalogue of catastrophes. Room not finished. Food was appalling undercooked or overcooked only 3 choices for dinner. No red meat. Breakfast bacon was half cooked. Coffee lukewarm. Need to work harder to attract the right clientele.

Very, very aged, pictures are extremely misleading and early morning noises, coaches in the car park at 6am starting up and moving.

The hotel staff were very welcoming to our dog and its situation in the centre of the beautiful town was perfect for exploring.

Grand hotel in quaint beautiful Victorian spa town - the hotel is tired but the rooms are very clean with large windows and beautiful vistas, depending on the room you get!

It’s a wonderful building with rich history. Excellent location. Downsides, it does not come with parking and that should be amended. While I realize they’re working on building a new car park, parking for guests was a concern. Air conditioning would be nice. It was really warm in our room

Hotel muy viejo, en algunos sectores falta mantenimiento! Algunas de las habitaciones (contratamos 3) tenia remodelaciones profundas y otras no tanto, todos los baños eran diferentes pero uno de ellos solo tenia bañera ( no habia ducha)

Magnifique bâtisse, avec du charme, mais qui mériterait des rafraîchissements. Certaines petites choses ne doivent pas être trop coûteuses et mériteraient d’être faites (robinets du lavabo qui fuient par exemple). Une très grande chambre et une très petite qui sentait bizarre (insecticide?). Accueil mitigé: nous étions 2 adultes avec 2 enfants, et nous avons eu 2 chambres aux opposés de l’hôtel et pas au même étage. Pas très sympa de ne pas prévoir 2 chambres cote à cote pour une famille. Le petit déjeuner (non inclu): on nous installe à une table qui n’est pas débarrassée des clients d’avant, pas de produit frais (fruit, ni même des yaourts). nous avons demandé s’il y avait du chocolat chaud pour les enfants, on nous a demandé d’attendre et personne n’est jamais venu nous répondre (on sent que le personnel est perdu: il mériterait d’y avoir un manager). Tout comme on nous a demandé de payer le petit déjeuner que nous avions déjà réglé en cash, mais cela n’était noté nulle part: il manque des procédures cadrées. Bref, séjour mitigé.

Beautiful old building but with modern, basic rooms. Lovely dining hall and well maintained gardens, staff lovely. Windows unfortunately only partly opened - not ideal during our summer visit. Limited restaurant menu but other restaurants within walking distance. Bathroom a bit musty but the room was clean. Car parking very limited, priority seems to be coach tours. Overall good, would stay again, but not the best value for money at the price we paid.

Very poor quality and choice at breakfast. Despite paying extra the bedroom was both small and in need of refurbish. We left a day early.
