“Shabby (but not chic), poorly maintained. Dirty, loose carpet on the stairs. Paper peeling from ceiling in sitting room and bedroom. Dripping basin waste in bathroom and mould in shower. No hot water one morning, cleaners sent to inspect and declared it working which it wasn’t. Plumber arrived in the evening to fix. Bed hard and uncomfortable but not as hard and lumpy as the pillows.
