Disappointed

We have come to SPI for the past 7 years and have stayed at a variety of homes. There were several positive aspects about this home. The media room and pool were the main reason we selected this home and they were excellent. This house did have several issues this week.The kitchen sink pipe unattached and water poured onto the floor on two separate days, leaving the house fish smelling and water under the laminate. The maintenance team were quick to respond each time but definitely just did quick fixes that didn’t work as it happened twice. Maintenance were at the house 3/4 days of our stay. On our last full day, the sink fell from the cabinet onto the kitchen floor while we were away; water everywhere. The maintenance team spent the afternoon fixing the sink. We couldn’t use our kitchen that day… the agreement between SPI rentals and VaykGear was not settled and we went the first few days without beach chairs etc…. The management team said they would compensate our trouble with the stay but haven’t got this resolved at this point.

House for 10+ guests, a bit worn out

The first impression was not good: dirty outside area, dark, windowless playroom where the garage used to be, dirty stairs, dirty living room. The upholstery is old and has many stains. The wooden floor on the second floor is defective in many places. The large balcony on the 1st floor is unusable and dingy. When we called SPI Rentals they brought a vacuum cleaner. But we had to clean it ourselves. Afterwards we also saw the good sides: large, clean pool. Clean bedrooms with good beds. Quite well-equipped kitchen. Good location. You can see everywhere that the owner hasn't wanted to invest anything for years.

Nice and relaxing pool

Nice house very spacious though needs some updating; old gold shower/tub doors; broken floor planks; dirty sofa (family itchy after seating on it) found dog hair. Our 2 teens loved the ping pong table and bunk beds. All bedding was clean. Kitchen fully equipped. Good location with access to main strip. Everyone loved the pool. Thank you.

Needs a thorough update

Place was dirty, mold above kitchen stove, sink in bathroom on floor 2 didn’t work, had to get new pans as old ones Teflon was flaking, Furniture broken. Multiple call to office to fix things throughout our stay. Floor coming apart and held together but scotch tape. Only goods to the stay is the A/C works great and pool was great. Outside of that beware!!!!

Look elsewhere!

If you enjoy clean, DO NOT stay here. You pay a cleaning fee FOR NOTHING! The walls are FILTHY. The baseboards are disgusting and need a good cleaning! There’s a reason there aren’t pictures of the bathroom. It needs a really good cleaning! On top of that, there is a broom and mop but nothing to clean with and no dustpan or vacuum. The grill had no propane but maintenance was quick to get one to us. The AC on the second floor went out but they were also pretty fast to get that going again. The yard needed to be mowed. The fescue was seeding out. The pictures on VRBO are deceiving. The floors were dirty and actually need to be redone. This property has the potential to be a great rental, but I wouldn’t stay here again simply for uncleanliness of the place.

Stands for a deep clean

The stay at our rental home started off with us not being able to get in the door due to a defective code - the team was quick to get this taken care of. We did request an early check-in, however this was not able to be accommodated and we received the alert 10 minutes before our check in time. Upon arrival, the first thing we noticed was that the house was not clean. The walls were flithy, there was a dead roach in the floor, and a strip lash glued to a light switch - not sure how any of this was missed. This place could really stand for a deep clean or a new cleaning crew. Moldy shower, random spots on the headboard were really offputting but we tried to put that aside. The rental does come with adequate towels and silverware… however, if you are planning to cook during your stay, you will absolutely need your own pots, pans, serving spoons, etc… this kitchen is not equipped besides cutlery and cups. The pans that are available have teflon chipping away, I would not recommend to use them. The pool was the best feature in the house, this was a selling point for us and was one of the main things we enjoyed staying here.

Great communication, house needs a little TLC

Communication with SPI was great and they took care of things that needed to be taken care of. We arrived early and couldn’t get in until after our check in time. Called SPI and they informed us we had to come to their office to check in which was not relayed to us prior to check in but no big deal, just a little time we could’ve saved. The house was not very clean when we arrived. There was hair in the sinks and floors of the bathrooms and on the kitchen floor. One of the kitchen cabinets has dead bugs and a dead cockroach in it. The living room rug could stand to be cleaned or replaced. The stock of dinnerware was great for our group of 9, however the cookware was minimal and the fry pans had a coating on them that was peeling and mixing into the food. I would suggest new cookware or planning to eat out. The location of the home was fantastic! Close to the beach, restaurants and nightlife yet in a quiet area. Beds were pretty decent for comfort. The AC and heat worked great! We had very cool weather upon arrival so heat had to be used. Definitely enough sleeping space for large groups! We had 6 single beds open even with 9 of us there. Kids enjoyed the lower living area/game room. The pool appeared to be clean however we couldn’t use it because it was ice cold. Asked if it was heated prior to reserving and we were told it was but there definitely was not any heat to it. Even on the warmer days it was too cold for the kids to use. The propane was gone when we went to use the grill but we did make a call and they came and filled it right away. The grill worked perfectly for us! Overall the house worked for us and was accommodating for most of or needs/wants. The main concerns are the cleanliness, cookware and storage containers and no TV’s in any of the bedrooms. We addressed our concerns with SPI and they said they would address the concerns with housekeeping.

Over all the pictures are exactly what we rented.

This place was very nice, was everything was very welcoming and felt like home. Although The place was very dirty when we got there. Looked like only the trash was taken out. Our refrigerator did not work the whole time there called and spoke to a mgr about it and they never got back to us. This place is great but still needs work on it for sure. Other than that it was good.

Family Vacation

Everything was perfect, we were extremely happy with the house our stay was pleasant The beach was walking distance we loved that so much and the pool was an added bonus We’d definitely reserve another vacation for my family here again FOR SURE!!!! ;)

Great

Over all we had a great stay. A few things were lacking for the amount of bed space available. Large pots/pans are needed for cooking for large groups but we were able to make do with what was available. No cleaning supplies except for a broom. Showers didn’t drain well. Would have been nice to have a heads up about construction as we were unable to get to the house without driving through the partially blocked off street. The set up for our group was perfect. 3families all with couples rooms, space for the teen group and then space for the smaller kids. Despite the the things listed this was a great property to stay at.

1st the of all 3rd floor bedroom was extremely hot. Patio doors would not open and close properly.

I’ve been renting in SPI for almost 15 years. This property needs a lot of improvements. If you want on email near water you can walk on this is not the place. Only for sleeping if you can sleep in the heat. Stairs in the inside were bad poorly done. Bay side and you can not walk on beach no access. Kitchen super tiny.

Family Vacation

16 of us stayed at this property. It fit all of us quite well. The kids loved the pool because of the 8 ft depth. It was about 3 blocks to the beach, a very easy walk. We would have liked TV’s in the bedrooms but , I guess we watched that much less TV.

Great Place!

We loved this home on South Padre Island! It was a close walk to the beach. It suited our multi family group perfectly! The pool is awesome but it was a little too chilly to use it during our stay.

Location was fabulous, house is beautifuly decoratedand furnished. A heated pool would have been nice...it was like doing a polar plunge...in and out. Way too cold to enjoy during this visit.

perfectly located and nice cozy place

Property was as shown in the pictures. Needed help with a couple of things on the property but spi rental guy and maintenance guys were quick to respond and help us out. If the weather would have been a little better, it would have been a perfect trip. Overall nice place to stay.
