A spacious seafront apartment in Pozzillo, a quiet fishing village halfway between Catania and Taormina. Casa Ionio boasts a patio, a balcony and a roof terrace with fantastic sea views that stretch to Taormina and even Calabria in the distance.

A a very short path leads you directly down to the lava rocks and onto the sea.

The apartment is on the first floor of a waterfront house and consists of:
- a living room with fireplace and access to the long balcony facing the sea;
- a patio with a dining table where you can sit sheltered from the wind;
- a roof terrace (accessible by a comfortable staircase) for a 360 degree view of the sea and Mount Etna;
- an equipped kitchen;
- 4 bedrooms (two doubles - one of which with sea view - and two for children);
- 1 bathroom;
- 1 toilet with bidet.

Casa Ionio is ideal for families who wish to be as close as possible to the sea and explore the eastern side of Sicily and Mount Etna.

Casa Ionio - vista fantastica
Stayed 2 weeks in September/October 2023. Large spacious property on the first floor with a very large roof terrace above. Views from the balconies and roof terrace are fantastic. The keyholder Alessandra was very helpful. Swimming and snorkling from the rocks below the apartment is great provided the sea is fairly calm. There are also other more sheltered options for sea swimming a short walk along the coast. There is a very small shop a street or two away and a small bar at the harbour within easy walking distance. For any other facilities you would need to drive.

Magical view of Ionian Sea
We had an amazing week of sunshine and spent a lot of time entranced by the view of the sea. The apartment is spacious with many seating areas to enjoy both the sea and the volcano, Etna. We were traveling with friends and it was a bonus to have two bathrooms. Plenty of space and ample dishes for cooking using delicious Sicilian ingredients.

beautiful seafront experience
We spent 5 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Terrific location in a small fishing village; views of the Messina Straits to the East and Etna to the West from the spectacular roof terrace. We took several walks from village to village with great views, friendly local businesses. Well appointed home as described on the website. Mid April is still cold at night so bring layers of clothing. Very spotty WIFI but if you can access internet via Hot Spot it worked perfectly. And the host facilitated a tour of Etna that was excellent.

Special find!
Casa Ionio offers simple, but comfortable, spacious and clean accommodation in a superb location. The terraces are wonderful with stunning views in one direction to Mount Etna and the Ionian sea in the other. Being able to walk literally a few minutes from the house to the sea was an absolute bonus. The host, Alessandra was very pleasant, helpful and eager to please. We had a really enjoyable stay in this amazing un-touristy location.

Nice apartment with sea views
Host met us at the property which was easy to find and she was very helpful. The apartment has great views over the sea and from the roof terrace you can see Mount Etna bubbling away at night. The apartment is fine and access to the lagoon/sea is easy via a path. You should use wet shoes as the lava rocks are very sharp and you climb down these to access the water. We were a family of 5 with 3 little children who weren't confident swimmers so they scrambled about rockpooling and we swam. It was too deep to stand up in but for a quick dip it's fine. You need a car to get to the supermarket or to find a restaurant as the harbour only has a small kiosk selling ice creams and drinks. It was easy to cook in the apartment though so we didn't find this a problem.

Nice waterfront house.
The waterfront is rugged and very private, good access for swimming and snorkeling. House is clean, quiet and very roomy for two couples. Nice outside dining.

We had wonderful holiday in the apartment which was spacious and comfortable. It was great to be so close to the sea and the location was excellent and peaceful. It was possible to reach Etna, Taormina and Syracuse for day trips and I'm sure that there is plenty more to do with more time. Overall, a super time for us all

We loved it there in POZZILLO. Couldn't have been a better place to be!
Having never been to SICILY and wanting to be on the sea but near MT ETNA, this was the "perfect" place for us. Each morning the sun rises to the east are breathtaking and each evening we sat on the rooftop terrace taking in MT ETNA'S beauty against the sunsets! We had the best of everything! We were there to try to find relatives living in a little town on the side of Mt Etna called BRONTE. We traveled there twice, once to see if we could find anyone and 2nd time to have dinner with the relatives we did find. While at this perfect house which gave us plenty of room for 4 of us and could have had more of us we visited TAOMINA/MT. ETNA/SIRAGUSA/CATANIA. All within an hour and a half drive. The house was right on the side of the sea on lava rocks with a little cement path leading down to a ladder that you could go into the sea safely with and swim. Days were very very hot so when I came back each late afternoon, after a little glass of homemade red wine supplied by the caretaker, I would have a refreshing swim in the sea with clean, clear, beautiful water. The apartment was spacious, clean, comfortable on the 2nd and 3rd levels with the rooftop terrance on the 3rd floor. Two bathrooms, one with shower so we were happy with that with 4 adults, it was never a problem with the use of the bathroom. We counted 4 places where you could sit down and eat. One on the deck in the front of the house overlooking the sea, Beautiful, one right in the livingroom in the front of the house overlooking the sea, and another in the entrance way coming into the apartment and one on the rooftop where we enjoyed breakfast sometimes and evening snacks sometimes. All accommodating you from the sun or in the sun, whatever you preferred. I hope to return someday with our whole family. One thing I would recommend is to get there in daylight and we just made it from our 4 pm flight in. Roads are narrow, we're from the USA and couldn't believe the pathways SICILY calls roads! OMG, what fun we had maneuving our way around SICILY! Hope you have a good driver like I did! MARION RUSSO

Lovely flat in a Superb location
My wife and I loved our week long stay. We were met by one of the owners of the property who was extremely friendly and spoke excellent English. She even gave us a little tour of the area to show us where to buy food, and the best local restaurants. The view from the balcony and roof terrace was beautiful looking out over the sea in one direction and mount Etna in the other. It was the perfect place for the rest and recuperation we both needed after busy working schedules. It was exceptionally hot a couple of days, but the fresh breeze coming off the sea was very welcome, and for the most part we didn't feel the absence of A/C and ceiling fans. It was also a good place to explore the NE of the island, half an hour from Catania to the south and Taormina to the north, and an hour from Mount Etna itself. If we return to Sicily in the future, we will certainly be trying to book here again
