Good Position but no lift

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: They were friendly and efficient. The hotel was clean and tidy. The bed was comfy. It was very close to the attractions we were interested in.
Cons: A lift would be good but may not be possible. Rooms could be a bit bigger but again may not be possible.
Location: Museums within walking distance. Actually if you don't mind walking most of what Amsterdam has to offer is walking distance.
We wanted a well priced hotel near to the centre of Amsterdam which we got, the only problem was we were on the fourth floor with the fourth floor accessed by a narrow spiral staircase. I am pretty fit but it took it out of me getting two 23kg cases up four flights of stairs. If you are not very strong then make sure your bags are light or you are on the lower floors.

Great place to crash at

Overall, Quentin Hotel and staff were amazing. Next best to a hostel. Tidy single beds were pushed together, each with an individual pillow top, you will not be upset lying down after a long day of walking. Bathroom was cleaned and with fresh towels. There was a body wash dispenser next to the water knobs that needed refilling. Floor does stay wet for some time after showering, but I hadn't any problems with standing in a puddle as others stated. It helps if you use the shower head to rinse the floor before finishing and leave the bathroom door open. Daily housekeeping. Small flat tv with local channels. Wifi in building. Get a smoking room if you want a window, they will tell you upon arrival NO SMOKING AT ALL. Common sense, keep it away from the detector or go outside. My window remained open throughout the 3 weeks because The room did get stuffy. Only issues I really had with the room were the lack of electrical outlets. I had to either disconnect the tv or charge my phone at the outlet next to the entrance. NO bedside outlet?

Dear guest, Thank you for your review on Expedia. We really appreciate your feedback. We are happy to read that you enjoyed your stay in Amsterdam and in the Quentin England Hotel. We are sorry to read that the bathroom floor flooded every time you took a shower. This should not be happening. Unfortunately we cannot see your room-number. I will inform Maintenance anyway that they need to check all rooms. Thank you once again and with kind regards, Wladimir Schrijver Front Office Manager

horrible

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: It is near the bars
Cons: A fan should be in all rooms with no windows in the summer.
i had a budget room which was small with no window, i am very claustrophobic and this room made me feel it also the room was very very hot and you could hear everyone in the rooms around you . The only thing good about this room was that i had free wifi so i could book another hotel for my remaining nights. i have double checked the website for the room i stayed in and no photos of the room i was given are shown. I have stayed in many budget hotels in my life this has put me off trying again, i will pay extra from now on.

Dear guest, Thank you for your review on Expedia, We are sorry to hear that the room did not meet your expectations. Please keep in mind that the Low Budget Rooms are not very spacious. These rooms are located in the basement with a small window or on one of the floors without a window. This information is also written on the websites. In case you are not happy with the room you can come to the reception and we are always willing to help you out with the best solution possible. Thank you and with kind regards, Wladimir Schrijver Front Office Manager

The room was a bit small and semi-basement but reasonably cozy and clean, well located. Do not expect any amenities such as refrigerator or water boiler, etc., even the Internet is slow. I would recommend this place to backpackers who need more privacy than hostels.

Cheap but very cheerful

Posted May 31, 2014
Pros: Location and staff
Cons: The room needed a facelift, tea and coffee making in the rooms, some attention to details like fixing showers, drawers in the room! Or a wardrobe...
Location: All the best art galleries, museums and places of interest were within walking distance...wonderful seafood restraunt nearby
Perfectly placed for all the artistic highlights of this wonderful city. The staff were welcoming, helpful and so polite. The room we had was on the lower floor and very basic, it had one tiny window at street level and was far too hot, we needed to leave the door open to allow air to circulate, the shower hlder was broken and the toilet was very noisy. Breakfast was the same every day and rather boring.A little more investment would push this hotel up a star...but don't change the staff they are great.

you get what you pay for, close to vondelpark :)

Posted May 30, 2014
Pros: attentive staff who manned reception 24hrs and gave us a free coffee when we had to wait for our room to be finished, very imformative and helpful.
Cons: tv-poor picture, toilet seat wouldn't stay up, sink plug wouldn't pop up so had to remove, sink so small water constantly splashed out
Location: near vondelpark, hardrock cafe, the heineken experience and tram stops easily accessible.
nice, cheap hotel with easy access to Vondelpark, the heineken experience, hard rock cafe and a number of other attractions, we didn't spend a huge amount of time in the hotel so it was perfect for us to be cheap and cheerful.

Clean, fresh and ideally located. Great base to explore Amsterdam thoroughly - a good hotel at a reasonable price! Would certainly use this hotel again

Small hotel close to the museum quarter

Posted Apr 23, 2014
Pros: Breakfast, location
Cons: Quality of the hotel rooms, the staff's approach to welcoming guests
Location: Very close to the museum quarter and other attractions, a two minute walk from a tram station
The hotel is conveniently located to the museum quarter and in the vicinity of small restauarants / supermarkets. It is also not that far from the Dam square and other points of interest if you don't mind walking. The hotel itself is, however, rahter disappointing in terms of the quality of hotel rooms. Especially if you get unlucky and be "offered" the garden room. This room is in the backyard of the hotel with a very loud toilet / shower that makes terribly loud noise every time you flush the toilet / take shower / open the tap. On the other hand, the simple yet satisfying breakfast pleasantly surprized us.

The location is the only good thing about it.

Posted Apr 13, 2014
Pros: The location
Cons: The lack of towels provided in the room and the cleanliness.
Location: Tons of restaurants, museums 10 minutes away.
I stayed at this hotel from a Monday - Saturday and on several occations they did not provide me with extra towels. I had to go to the front desk and request them and they always asked me why I needed more towels. They also only changed my sheets once when I requested them to do so and only cleaned my room once. They always took out the trash but that's about all of the cleaning that they did. I was given a single room without a window, which I was OK with because this allowed me to sleep, but the room was right in front of the stairs so I heard everyone who was coming up and down the floor all night. The breakfast was always the same, bread, croissants, cheese, ham, cereal, orange juice and coffee, nothing special but it beats spending your money in the area where there are a lot of expensive restaurants. The location is great if you want to go to the Rijsmuseum or the van Gogh museum, there are a lot of restaurants and public transportation is near. It's only 1 block away from the park as well.

Dear Liz, Thank you for your review on Expedia. I am sorry that we did not provide you with fresh towels on a daily base. Normally sheets and towels are changed every 3rd day. If you need more then you just tell the reception and we are always willing to change. We just ask for a reason because we need to check if the housekeeping did their work. Thank you and with kind regards, Wladimir Schrijver Front Office Manager
