Relax on the waterfront in Anzac Parkand watch the cruise boats as they sail in and out to the Great Barrier Reef.Anzac Park is named in tribute to the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps(ANZAC). Situated on a headland facing the Dickson Inlet, the park has charmingviews that look out to the Sugar Wharf Jetty, the Coral Sea, mangroves and therolling mountains in the west.

Settle down for the day on a picnicblanket. Play a game of soccer, fly a kite or play Frisbee. The kids can lookfor shells at the small beach at the south end of the park while you dip yourtoes in the shallow water. Read a book in the shade of a palm tree or relaxunder a fig tree and marvel at their fascinating root systems.

The mountains in the background and thelast boats coming back from a day on the reef makefor a picturesque view at sunset. When it’s time for anevening meal, pick up some fresh seafood, light up a barbecue and enjoy a nightpicnic.

At the park’s edge is St. Mary’s by theSea chapel. Built in 1914, this charming little church is a popular place forweddings.

The craft markets are one of AnzacPark’s biggest attractions. Held every Sunday morning for the past 20 years, the markets are a great place to find local arts, handmade crafts and jewellery. Meet farmers bringingtheir produce to sell to locals and visitors. Find unique accessories such ashandmade bags, or a piece of art,or pick up a reef photo or Daintree souvenir. If you have a sweet tooth, trylocally grown sugar cane or drink the milk from a freshly crackedcoconut.
