GuangzhouÂ’s new international airport opened in 2004, and as early as 2007 ranked second in mainland China in terms of passenger traffic. The airport is in Huado District, 34 km (approximately 1 hour) north of the city centre. Airport shuttle buses leave from several points throughout the city. Alternately, taxis can be faster, with a typical fare of Y100 or higher.
