Even though this region is a little off the beaten track, there are still a wealth of things to discover in the vicinity of Bansko. Go to Strumica, and enjoy the Global Shopping Center and Goce Delcev Square. Strumica is approximately 7 miles (11 kilometers) from Bansko and is worth the trip. If you feel like seeing more of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, make your way over to Valandovo to visit the City Park and Valandovo Municipal Stadium. Valandovo is 11 miles (18 kilometers) away.
About 40 miles (64 kilometers) to the northwest of Bansko is Kocani, a regional center and the home of Lake Gratce, Fountain Square and Defense Tower. If your itinerary allows it's worth investigating Freedom Monument, Kochani University of Law and Osogovo Mountain Ski Center before returning to Bansko.
