"Landscaped Oasis in Belize"
I went to Maruba for some R&R after a surprising end to a marriage engagement. It's beauty and amazing creativity drew me in, and I was not let down when I arrived! To leave the airport and drive down a blown out paved/dirt/Rock road for an hour, seeing dirt poor people along the way, then pull into this oasis, is kind of shocking in a way. But Melanie, the host, welcomed me likd a family member, handed me a rum punch and walked me around. I felt welcome. The resort is secluded, small, and perfect for those wanting privacy. It's landscaping is just gorgeous, and I spent a lot of time walking around or laying by the pool in a private canopy, listening to the birds and wind in the palms, reading in peace and swimming. The food is very good, and my last night there I had the best pasta dish with fish, shrimp and octopus I've ever had! Good, strong black coffee in the morning. The room...it was unique and beautiful. The only issue I had was a TV that had no reception and the pillows were quite hard. But nice massage is just the thing to work the kinks out! Their spa is magnificent ❤️ And finally the excursions...there are many options. I went snorkeling. The boat ride was exhausting 1.5hrs, but worth it for the beauty we saw underwater in San Pedro. But they leave you in town for 3 hours buy lunch and shop, and it was very uncomfortable to me. Suggesting they all eat together might be at least a better option! Overall it was a great experience!!!

"Caribbean beauty, tranquility, superb food&service"
If you want tranquil excellence, Secreto is your spot. The food was better here than anywhere in San Pedro, and so was the service - by far. I would recommend booking whatever you do through the front desk at Secreto. They are wired in correctly to the local excursions (snorkeling, etc.) and they will get it right for you. My wife loved the french toast for breakfast. I loved the ceviche, and pretty much the entire menu, and the dinner specials were awesome. They have a real chef who cooks to order & does it right & fresh & cares. You will not find better cooking and a staff that is more interested in making sure everything is right for you in Belize. We hit a couple of the better restaurants in San Pedro and they did not hold up to either the food or the staff at Secreto. My wife came back from the trip singing "You betta Belize in Love". That should give you a pretty good idea of how we liked the place. And the drinks at the bar? Forgedddaboudit! Order a Caipirinha or a Rum Runner from Monica (wins bar tending contests) or Freddis and you will thank me later. Monica floats the Rum Runners with Craboo liquor (only available locally) and she is just nice and as sweet as pie. Want anything (the dinner special, a Belikin) delivered to your villa at 9? No worries, just call the front desk. Snorkeling - I would recommend Mexico Rocks over Hol Chan. Mexico Rocks is not near a channel (no current), is very close to El Secreto, and has great marine life. Thanks Lewis! Great Captain.

"Great Resort with amenities on Ambergris Caye"
This is a nice resort just north of downtown San Pedro. The list of amenities is great and the resort has several really nice pools. As for beaches, there are not really any sandy beaches on Ambergris Caye. If you want to get to downtown San Pedro, the resort offers golf cart rentals or you can take a water taxi that offers scheduled transportation up and down the island to the various resorts. We found the hotel staff quite helpful and friendly. The help coordinate our planned arrival to the island from the mainland, provided a list of recommended restaurants in the town, and provided us with a list of activities we could arrange.

"Robert's Grove Beach Resort - Placencia, Belize"
We stayed at Robert's Grove for 9 nights in late March 2015 and didn't quite miss the spring break crowd. The resort is lovely and has all the amenities of good resort that is away from the beaten path. The accommodations were good, the bed very comfortable and we not only had an ocean breeze but also air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The air temperature was about 85 degrees and the water temp was also around 80 degrees and pleasant. The walls are thin and voices carry freely. Unfortunately, the weather (this year) was unseasonably rainy which caused several of our snorkeling excursions to be cancelled and others to be challenging with strong currents and high waves. Highly recommend the snorkeling at Silk Caye, Glover's Reef, and Ranguana Caye. Dive staff are first class with snorkelers and divers, no one is left behind, the provided lunches were great (chicken or fish) with salad, and water or juice. Each snorkel trip lasted all day with a 1+ hour boat ride there and back, and two-snorkels.

"There are better places "
The hotel was far from everything and it was really inconvenient the fact that the lobby, restaurant and bar operates only from 7 am - 9 pm. It is not the best hotel if you are travelling with friends or if your plan is to get to know San Pedro well, have dinners and drinks after 9 pm or at San Pedro. The hotel manager should work at something else, his idea of doing his job well is literally "making money" and not serving well his customers. The pool was nice but there is no way of going into the ocean anywhere nearby. The food and rooms were really god.

Best and Worst Times to Visit Belize

If you’re in search of warm temperatures and clear skies, plan a visit to Belize between November and May. This is the country’s dry season when you can expect 80-degree F weather. But because it’s the perfect season to head to the beach, the majority of tourists visit during this time.

Hurricane season lasts from June to October. Even if a hurricane doesn’t hit the coast, this period is considered Belize’s rainy season, especially from August to October. Temperatures usually linger around 70 and 80 degrees F during this wet season. If you don’t mind a chance of showers, you’ll score cheaper rates during these months.

    Things to Do

During your visit, soak up the sunshine and balmy temperatures at one of the many beaches in Belize. For serene shores lined with palm trees, make your way to the pristine coast along Placencia Peninsula, or lounge on the shores of Hopkins Beach. Next, grab your flippers and dive into the water at Caye Caulker, which boasts unrivaled snorkeling and scuba diving turf. Ambergris Caye and Blue Hole are two other popular dive spots with barrier reefs teeming with sea life.

In addition to its picturesque landscapes, Belize is home to a number of ancient Mayan ruins. Visit these sites to uncover the nation’s past and Mayan culture. Begin your adventures at Xunantunich, which features more than 25 palaces and temples, and then check out the scenic views from the structures at Cahal Pech. Don’t miss Lamanai, which is one of the largest Maya ceremonial spots, and then marvel at the remains at Barton Creek Cave. After exploring all day long, kick back at one of the best Belize resorts in town.
