Staff very helpful with recommendations for restaurants. Location was excellent for exploring Bologna. Everything we wanted to visit was in walking distance. Loved the breakfast.

great location, great staff, spartan rooms
Excellent service throughout my stay. The staff were very friendly and informative. Th hotel is clean and organized. My room was spartan but it is a budget priced hotel and that was fine with me especially as I was only staying overnight.

Lovely hotel in Bologna
Very wonderful staff. Room was great, although the bathroom is compact. Great croissants and expresso for breakfast. The location is great for walking to the sights.

Very nice little hotel 15 minute walk from train station, and central to everything in Bologna. Lots of great restaurants, and other attractions.

Pleasure to stay
Location is perfect , very friendly and helpful reception . Bonus was a little terrace where you can rest any time , have coffee /tea etc . Inside is also space as a little cafe if you not fancy go to the room . Receptionist can advice on any question or help with your request ))) Train station in walking distance . I enjoyed my stay very much and would recommend it . Irina

Staff was very friendly. Room was very clean. The price for one night on a weekend was a bargain. The room itself was Spartan -- very small and no decoration -- like a college dorm room without posters. There was no safe in the room but the room was secure.

Basic, good location. Not recommended
Very basic hotel. Free coffe and snacks in the morning is a nice surprise. Staff requests to live a key room at the reception EVERY time you are going out. Than you have to collect it every time you are back showing your ID. It is more than annoying. The smell in every barhroom (we had 3 rooms on different floors) is horrible.

I'd Stay There Again
They gave us breakfast gratis - made our stay much nicer plus our room was upgraded - they seemed to make a real effort to make our stay as pleasant as possible. The room seemed freshly painted and though no air conditioner, (they are typically turned off during shoulder season in Italy) it was cool enough with the ceiling fan even in 29 degree heat. Be aware, there is a live studio audience outside your bedroom window until late so bring earplugs, as you should anyway. 15 minute walk to anywhere. Shower is small but not Miserly England small. About a 1km walk from train station, we did it with full pack with little misery.

Great Location, Service and Value.
The service was great (people at the front desk were fantastic) and the location is incredible. Just outside the front door is a street of outstanding and reasonably priced restaurants, and in no time you can walk to the city center. Great option for Bologna. In the interest of full disclosure, the room is pretty small, but in the end who cares.

Nice centrally located hotel.
The Hotel Giorgio was centrally located within easy reach of both the centre of town and the Bologna Centrale Station. The front desk staff were welcoming and friendly and always helpful with any enquiries we had and gave us some great recommendations.

Basic Room, great breakfast
My room was a typical, basic single room which is all I needed, the staff was very welcoming. The hotel is on a busy street that has many restaurants and cafes so it can be noisy at night, ear plugs were helpful for me. The hotel is in a great location, walking distance from everything in Bologna. The best part of my stay was the breakfast buffet which had a great selection of items to choose from.

Where were my eyes when I chose this hotel?
For 250 Euro per night it was believed that I would receive nice cozy room with full amenities in the center. Only last is more or less true. And only because Bologna is small city. The room is shabby, no fridge, the clothes hangers are from dry cleaner’s (!!!). The air-conditioner was off and when I asked to plug it, the Reception answered me that it's quite cold in Bologna (+23˚C !!!) and I have to use fan on the ceiling. When I switched the fan on, I understood that either it wants to kill me or it wants to commit suicide. Because it started to howl, to shake and to sway. It looked like it wanted to break loose from the ceiling and to cut our heads. The brown stains on the walls hinted about possibility of this scenario. Out of harm's way, I switched it off. We decided to sleep with open window. The roar from restaurants, passersby, driving cars and scooters, from public cleansing vehicles early morning just under our window gave us the most awful night in my life.

Well located in the University District.
Many of the iconic places of Bologna a bit a stroll away for on this decent hotel. Several places in the immediate neighborhood offer a very good "Taste of Bologna". The walk through the Porticos to the Basilica of the Madonna of San Luca is a simple bus ride on the #20 from the stop jus a short two blocks from the hotel. The breakfast of ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs, pastry cereal, yogurt, orange juice and great coffee is delightful.

Might stay here again.
It was a good hotel for the price overall. The room was nice and clean, the staff was very helpful (the concierge offered me his personal charger when I forgot to bring mine), breakfast was plentiful with a large selection for a 3-star? and the hotel itself was in good condition. The only problem was the nightlife, people were yelling, drinking, and making noise throughout the night. I don't know if I can blame the hotel though, it could have just been the neighborhood. However there was no insulation in the walls so I could hear everything.

Good but not peaceful.
Nice hotel. Very helpful staff. Close to Bologna Central and Piazza Magiore. Room is clean, but the quality is so so. Probably the best you can get for the price. Except that, if you are looking for some peace, this is not the best choice. Because of the central location, and the young community, streets around are noisy until early in the morning.

Nice easy hotel
I was in Bologna just for one night, the hotel is strategically located between the train station and the town centre. A little noisy at night because it is close to the University part of the town, so it is full of young students who enjoy the Italian nights.

Great price, friendly staff, clean rooms
While definitely not a luxury hotel, it's a great, inexpensive and welcoming place to stay. Easy access to the train station and the bustling heart of Bologna. Rooms are small, but if you don't plan on spending day time in the hotel, it's perfectly comfortable. Staff are friendly and speak English fairly well, and the breakfast is delicious. One down side is because it's close to the main street, it can get loud in the rooms till late at night, but it's nothing ear plugs can't solve!

The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Both the hotel and my room were clean and well maintained. The hotel is in a very busy area which means it is within walking distance to many bars and restaurants (and about 10-15 minutes to the train station and the university), but it of course also means that you will hear the noise from outside when windows are open (which I didn't mind at all).

È comunque un piacevole soggiorno
Sono ritornata con piacere all'hotel San Giorgio. La posizione centrale, vicino a quelli che sono i miei interessi a Bologna, la gentilezza e la disponibilità mai invadente del personale, l'essere in una specie di isola pedonale/ciclabile rendono il soggiorno piacevole! L'unico aspetto negativo è rappresentato dal bagno veramente troppo piccolo! Capisco che non è facile e sempre possibile ricavare spazi da strutture rendendoli adeguati e fruibili. Forse però si sarebbero potute trovare altre strategie. Un'ultima osservazione: forse di sera/notte è un po' rumoroso: zona centrale, vicino all'università, fitto di locali, sere ancora tiepide... Rumore giovane però.
