Fun Location

Posted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: Location, and comfortable beds, very quiet, slept great.
Cons: Leave the curtains open for when people arrive so they can be wowed by the view. Let people know about Bachus when they check in, offer $5 off there.
Location: South Bank has museums, and some restaurants, and the riverbank to walk along.
I valeted a car and was happy this was about $10 less than in the CBD. I paid $20 extra to Expedia for a Superior Room, listed with perhaps 50% more square feet than a Standard Room, and was a little disappointed to learn the only difference in size was the balcony. But it seems the Superior Rooms also face the city, which is preferable, and so worth it. I was surprised upon entering the room to see the curtains fully closed, blocking the view. The sun comes up at 5:30 a.m., getting light at 5 a.m., so maybe this was a reminder to people to close the curtains when they go to sleep. When I ran the water in the bathroom sink, I heard a slightly delayed gurgling under the floor, as the water was piped to a small open drain in the middle of the bathroom floor, which I have not seen before. But only the sound was odd; the bathroom itself was fine. I loved the location, being in the heart of South Bank, and able to walk to and over the Victoria Street bridge to the Queen Street Mall. I had trouble finding the hotel when I came back, because there seem to be no signs with the name on the east side, except on the SE corner. The large outdoor bar Bachus is fantastic - but I only learned about it because when walking outside I heard the music and saw the torches - it would be nice if the desk told me about this when I checked in. I was traveling alone, which made me less excited, but if with someone else would have loved my stay here.

Great spot, weird pool

Posted Mar 1, 2015
Awesome location central to everything. And the staff are super helpful. Our only bone of contention was that the pool sits in the middle of the resteraunt's outdoor dining are... No one needs to see me in my swimmers while the eat their lunch.

Overnight stay. Was ok. Convenient to Southbank where the restaurants are.

Nice poolside bar but very expensive food and drinks. Told room service would be 30 minutes, ended up being 70. Food was rubbish

Nice hotel in close proximity to everything!

Posted Jan 22, 2015
Pros: Its close proximity and it was comfortable
Cons: Transition from vehicle to foyer. It was busy on our arrival.
Location: Excellent location for every thing we needed to do.
We were in short walking distance to Performing Arts, Art Galleries, Museum, and the South Bank Precinct with bars and restaurants galore. The city is just across the bridge.

Overnight Stay with two children

Posted Jan 20, 2015
Pros: Service was great, the room was large enough for the four of us and within walking distance to a variety of resturants and entertainment.
Cons: Mini bar pricing was a bit exorborant.
Location: Close to Southbank, Qld Performing Arts Council, Museum, Qld Library, resturants.
We arrived back in the country mid January, and decided to stay a night in Brisbane before continuing towards home, so I went online and found that Rydges Southbank was priced right. Quickly booked in, we arrived a few hours later and were pleasantly greeted at reception and the valet out front offered to not only park our car, but also help with our luggage. We also decided to see if we could change our room to allow us to stay up later after the children with a room divider, this was available and it was no issue to change rooms. The room was lovely, and it overlooked the Brisbane river and Southbank, the beds were super comfortable and we all had a terrific night's rest. The position of the motel was perfect as there were resturants within walking distance, as was Southbank which we took advantage of. I would reccomend this to families as we had no problems with our requests and the room was quite large as well.

Nice hotel in the center of South Bank.

Posted Jan 17, 2015
Pros: Location is right in the center of South bank.
If you like a morning walk, or swimming, this hotel is a perfect fit. Beautiful river side of South bank is just across the road. There are all kinds of restaurants and bars to choose.
