Ideal for the Convention CentrePosted Apr 25, 2015
The largest advantage to the hotel is its easy access to the BCEC ... a two minute walk across a patio. I would stay there again on that basis. A second nice advantage is (are?) all the hopping and pretty good restaurants within a five minute walk ... I went to French Martini and to Stokehouse. The minor downsides are: the elevators are overwhelmed; the appointments in the corridors and room - while very clean - are cheap-feeling, kind of like a lodge where people are more interested in the time spent on the slopes; and the price is pretty high.

Great hotel uncaring staffPosted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: Room comfort
Cons: Staff training and noise reduction in the morning
Location: Great location
We found this a high quality hotel however the staff members do not seem much care for their customers. Cleaners are extremely noisy as of 7 AM which makes it difficult to sleep in the morning.

Overpriced for what you getPosted Apr 13, 2015
Made the mistake of booking during school holidays and paid inflated price for room. The room was comfortable but basic with bathroom showing its age. It was noisy due to late night revellers returning to their rooms close to ours.

Great Location -BUTPosted Apr 7, 2015
Check whats on! Was unable to use the pool and pool bar as the hotel had a function (unannounced to guests) or a normal drinks afternoon for young (under 30s) people. Not guests but anyone who want to turn up it seemed. . Mentioned to staff but received the normal response; "and what is your room number". No apology or explanation. Spa out of action. Paper thin walls - people walking in the corridor having normal conversation could be heard in the room. Terrible when kids were about. Staff start work at 5.00am but no consideration for sleeping guests. Very noisy. Unlikely to stay here again

Great location at Southbank. Excellent river walks. Walking distance to The Gabba. Next door to the Convention centre. River Cat to The Powerhouse for a concert. A great base for a few days stay. Guest parking was a biy expensive

Fun LocationPosted Mar 3, 2015
Pros: Location, and comfortable beds, very quiet, slept great.
Cons: Leave the curtains open for when people arrive so they can be wowed by the view. Let people know about Bachus when they check in, offer $5 off there.
Location: South Bank has museums, and some restaurants, and the riverbank to walk along.
I valeted a car and was happy this was about $10 less than in the CBD. I paid $20 extra to Expedia for a Superior Room, listed with perhaps 50% more square feet than a Standard Room, and was a little disappointed to learn the only difference in size was the balcony. But it seems the Superior Rooms also face the city, which is preferable, and so worth it. I was surprised upon entering the room to see the curtains fully closed, blocking the view. The sun comes up at 5:30 a.m., getting light at 5 a.m., so maybe this was a reminder to people to close the curtains when they go to sleep. When I ran the water in the bathroom sink, I heard a slightly delayed gurgling under the floor, as the water was piped to a small open drain in the middle of the bathroom floor, which I have not seen before. But only the sound was odd; the bathroom itself was fine. I loved the location, being in the heart of South Bank, and able to walk to and over the Victoria Street bridge to the Queen Street Mall. I had trouble finding the hotel when I came back, because there seem to be no signs with the name on the east side, except on the SE corner. The large outdoor bar Bachus is fantastic - but I only learned about it because when walking outside I heard the music and saw the torches - it would be nice if the desk told me about this when I checked in. I was traveling alone, which made me less excited, but if with someone else would have loved my stay here.
