As i was on foot ( by Train ) i wanted some where near the Station to commute between Carnforth and Silverdale to access the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss and this Hotel fit the bill, very good value for money too for 3 nights. A decent sized room ( Double ) ,there is plenty of Car parking spaces also if needed,i didnt try their Breakfasts, as i needed to be out early morning.

One to miss
Took nearly 30mins to book in. Keys missing to room. Had to get the housekeeping key. Bathroom light and one wall light not working. Bathroom extractor ran continuously even when light off. Bed sloped from foot to headboard like sleeping with feet up. Very poor mattress. Cleanliness overall poor. Seating in restaurant very badly stained to the point did not want to sit on it so missed breakfast. Carpets and radiators in bedroom very dirty.

Sadly this place has started to look very unloved and shabby. The bar and dining in the main building still looks ok but does need a little tlc. However, the Lodge actually looks like a condemned building! The surroundings are full of weeds and the place in in dire need of some paint and repairs. The bedrooms initially didn't appear to bad, just a little dated..however we soon discovered several things not working including 2 x lights so it was very dingy. We also found out in the morning that the window that opened straight onto the side of the street was actually open slightly and it didn't have a handle to close it! Advised staff politely upon leaving and they were lovely and very apologetic. This places sorely needs to some love, attention and updating if it is to survive.

Over night stop
Over night stop over. Quick checking in, lodge and Brassiere in a good condition, staff were very helpful and friendly. enjoyed are evening meals, very easy to find. But the car park could do with a little tidy up.

great overnight stop from Lakes to Settle Railway
Our overnight was prior to Settle-Carlisle Railway, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time - bar, restaurant and lodging were all great. The guestrooms in the building behind the brasserie were so quiet and pleasant. Emily served us on both arrival and departure and was helpful many times in between! She's so friendly and ready to assist at any point, and she made our stay a pleasure.
