The hotel is in very poor condition, needs lots of maintenance, has no Wi Fi, when we got to the room there was no towels, no bathroom tissue the Air conditioner is very, very poor! we are very disapointed in this place.

Facilities are quiet worn out and the rooms are very poorly maintained. We were moved 2 times. 1st a/c not working, 2nd beds were broken. Finally they gave us an upgrade to an ocean view however a/c was a bit low and the room kept getting warm specially during the afternoon times since the sun hit directly through the windows. Food was good, entertainment was good and the end we managed to have an ok stay at the hotel.

They charged me for 3 towels for the fact that I stained the towels with washable hair dye. Treated me like some sort of criminal when I tried to leave. Front desk service was really unpleasant.

Absolutely Horrible! Stay away!
The most expensive hotel I stayed in while in Cartagena and by far the worst hotel experience I’ve had in my life! Shabby buildings and rooms. Totally disorganized check in. Took about 1 hour. Incredibly rude and unhelpful staff. Room was the worst. Crayon markings on furniture, no working air conditioning (80 degrees F in the room),no working wifi or television. No running hot water! Nothing came out of the faucet. Told front desk about the issues and they said they would send someone, but never did. Staff literally detained us upon checking out and would not let us leave hotel for some unknown reason that no one on staff could explain to us. Security staff literally grabbed our bags and would not let us leave although we had already checked out and were waiting for an Uber to the airport. Isn’t this illegal?! After over 20 minutes, some lobby guy (manager? I hope not) said it was a mixup and we could leave. Management and many hotel staff should be fired! The absolute worst hotel experience I have ever had and I travel a lot! Horrible! Stay away!

The worst hotel for the money.
The worst hotel I HAVE EVER stayed in. I mean for the price I paid (almost $200). Give me this hotel for $40-50 and I’ll say it’s ok. But not for $200. I mean rooms are horrible. Service is non-existent. Again, I repeat, worst hotel I’ve ever stayed, and that’s not hyperbole.

THE WORST
This was by far the worst hotel i have seen in business. It compares to a very cheap hotel. There was mold everywhere. We preferred not to look for things wrong because we kept finding them. Stains, hair, hand print marks, stench…. It had it all. The elevators were broken. The front staff was painfully slow. I would never recommend of go back.

What I liked: it's right across the beach. What I didn't like: lines for everything. The hotel can receive a lot of guests (someone said it was up to 1000 people), so during breakfast/lunch/dinner you have to wait on the line to get your food from the buffet. Only one pool for up to 1000 people (you have to make reservations to get in). Only one bar for up to 1000 people!. You can't get more than 2 drinks per person, so if you're a large group, you can't help bringing drinks to your party table. All of you (or most of you) will have to get in the line to get your own drinks. So: no social distancing. it's crowed as hell during holidays, and the lines for everything make it worst. Only 2 elevators for a 15-floor building where each floor has like 14 rooms each. Elevators crowed as well, or you'll easily wait like 30 mins to get an elevator for yourself. Plus, one elevator didn't work for 2 hours or so. Food was good, but basic. Not Colombian food really nor Caribbean food. Rooms are pretty basic, they feel old and unmaintained. They definitely focus on receiving tons of guests and full their capacity, rather than providing quality.

the staff was rude. this is not an all-inclusive hotel. you can only eat the times told. if you ask for a drink has to be finished only in front of the bar. the pool can only be used 1 hour a day! rooms are super old.

This hotel is ranked with 3 stars, however it is far from being even a 1 star hotel. We changed rooms 4 times for the first 3 nights. The reasons were as follow: 1. The internet did not work, the room was old and dilapidated and the air conditioning did not work; 2. In the second room there was not hot water, not internet service, the room was not the one we booked with view to the sea; 3. the third room was worse because headboard was king size and they placed a full sized bed, which mattress was old, still not internet service, there was not an outlet to plug-in our computer near the super small desk, so an extension cord was brought and plugged in from across the room, we had to wait around 5 minutes for the hot water to come, the room had a pungent smell, as well. The food was the worse of any hotel or resort we have stayed. There was little variety and the meat was of poor quality. Regarding the staff, if you tip them you get them around you like pigeons during feeding time. If you don’t tip them, they don’t even look your way. All the food is service buffet style, and some of the servers have a negative attitude. If you are looking for an horrid experience in your vacations, this is the haunted hotel to go. Otherwise, keep away from this shop of horrors. Expedia should check the hotels before ranking them. I am seriously beginning to question Expedia’s ranking of hotels, because it is the second negative experience that I endure in the last 12 months. Dr. H. Geage

This is an older hotel. The good thing about it is it's location right across the street from the beach. Makes it easy for enjoying the sea and sand. It is also ten minutes by taxi from the old walled in city that is very interesting. The price was very decent for the location. It is a bit down on it's heels, could use some renovation. The staff was all right. Smallish pool. We had a room that looked out on the ocean and so that was very nice.

THE WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE..!! The dirtiest and most neglected hotel I have ever seen in my life, just to say that a hostel is in better condition. In the room where my nephew and my sister were, it was flooded and my nephew, who is only 8 years old, got sick due to the bad conditions of the air conditioners since it had mold in the ducts. The A/C did not work in my room. The food was not recommended, the snacks were a guava pastry or a mini pizza, the breakfast options are embarrassing and not to mention dinner. We only stayed in this hotel for less than 48 hours and they had the nerve to charge me for the 9 days my reservation was, when I only stayed a day and a half in this dump. Don’t be misguided by the pictures you see online, not what it seems at all!

Love the beach just cross street from the hotel, the meals were delicious , the night shows were so excellent, there was a problem with the ac while we were there but we Were outside the room most of the time , we all 11 members of my familia enjoy this hotel and we will come back next time

I really enjoyed my visit at this hotel. Everything was good. Service was excellent and employees were very attentive. During meals time, couple of the employees were not too friendly, but in general everything was great. I had issue with my bed and it was replaced in no time. I was amazed now quick they replied and fixed the issue right away. Elevators were a little slow and hectic waiting too long for it. I will definitely will stay at Hotel Dorado Plaza again.

The personal excellent very kind and helpful but the room was not like in the pictures, very basic and the building not wells maintained only one elevator working for so many people the waiting was impossible had to use the stairs a few times but in the 10th floor not very doable ☹️

Complex has serious problems
I hate to have to say this, but the place is falling apart. Internet only works in the lobby or by the elevator. Most rooms no internet but if you are near an elevator look for your floor and click on piso 7 or whatever floor your on. A/c barely works in most units. The only cool a/c is in the check in counter closest to beach. Many windows are in bad shape. My first room they were banging like crazy with the winds. I went and found a cardboard box and tore it in strips to cut down on the window banging. Also had to pack cardboard under the door to cut down on wind sound. Worst of all in the tower closest to the airport, one elevator never worked. The other was down OFTEN. 2 flights of between each floor so if your on the 15th , that is 30 flights of stairs in a hot humid stairwell. I filmed the parade of folks out of breath going up and down. Hot water often was just air, or cold. I think there are guys on the room filling tanks as workers were constantly going up and down working up there. They also had hoses and compressors in the elevator, and parts trying to get something working. The whole place is for Colombian package tourists. I was there a week and only saw 2 people that were non Colombian that I could tell. It doesnt really matter where your from normally butthe Colombians often have many family members and get sometimes 2 or 3 rooms. Then they leave the doors open and yet back and forth and the kids running around and yelling and sounds here travel everywhere.
