family getaway
we had a getaway with our kids and grandkids. it was the perfect place to stay, everyone had their own space and own bathroom! we really enjoyed ourselves. the property had everything we could have needed. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to friends

50th Anniversary Get Together
This is a lovely and peaceful secluded home on a private section of beautifully preserved sand dunes on Monterey Bay. There was nothing lacking in our enjoyment of our five nights there. We made a few suggestions for minor improvements or changes which were very well received.

we rented the condo for my husbands 70th birthday. The condo was very clean and spacious. Six adults and one infant had plenty of room. The kitchen was well equiped for anything we needed.

Beautiful Stay at the Dunes
We had a wonderful time at the Dunes. It was wonderful for our family of 5 (with 3 boys 7,5, &1) to just walk out the door and get to the beach. A short drive to Monterey for entertainment made this getaway the best of both worlds in terms of privacy and popular sight-seeing. With the kitchen fully stocked, clean rooms, laundry, and access to the pool, spa, and athletic facilities this is a prime location for any family who wants to get away and be worry free about taking their kids to crowded places. You could easily cook a great meal with the kitchen or even order out for delivery so you don’t have to leave the views. I would just tell anyone with a young one to bring a baby gate.

Makes you fall in love with Northern California coast!
The ocean at your doorstep, beach walks awaiting, cool fun places up and down the coast. Then dinner around the table and continued good conversation with a wonderful fire in the fireplace… heaven on earth!

Monterey Dunes Getaway
What a little slice of Heaven! A private gated oceanfront community with lots of privacy. The Condo was exceptional! It was clean & updated and it worked perfectly for our group of 3 couples. It was everything it said it was, but even better. We loved that the beach was only steps away and that we were only 15 to 30 minutes from everywhere we wanted to We highly recomment this unit and would definitely stay again.

Wonderful place in a beautiful location
We absolutely loved staying in the townhouse! The location in Monterey Dunes was beautiful and quiet and we so enjoyed walking on the beach, sitting on the deck looking out over the ocean while enjoying our morning coffee and sunset in the evening. The townhouse is beautifully decorated. We cooked most of our meals there and found everything we needed in the well stocked kitchen. The layout of the place is great with privacy between rooms. What a great place for our family get away!

Awesome rental!
This home is so beautiful! The furnishings are extremely comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed for our Monday-Friday stay. Shelli was just a text away when we needed some help, and she is so patient and kind. We could not have asked for a better home away from home. This place is the BEST!!! It even has 3 King size beds, a heated community swimming pool and hot tub. The beach goes on for miles. Thank you for sharing this beauty with others! WOW!

We have vacationed many times at Monterey Dunes. This was the most relaxing stay with perfect weather. This condo is very comfortable and well stocked with all the necessities. We will be back.

Monterey Dunes Beach Condo's
Great secluded beach condo 20 miles south of Monterey in the sand dunes. Great for beach walks. Condo is very comfortable and spacious with 3 bedrooms with king sized beds. New great room sofa as well as nice dining table to seat 6. Linens were adequate and included a washer and dryer. On the beach with just a short walk thru the dunes to the ocean. I was there with three female friends to play golf and enjoy the beach. We all enjoyed our stay.

A perfect getaway
This is a very beautiful place! From one side we looked out over the dunes at the water and watched whales spouting. On the other side we used the barbecue for several of the meals. The property is lovingly decorated and very comfortable. It also is situated for easy access to more things than we could take advantage of in our 4 day stay. We did kayak several times in the Slough, highly recommended, walked along the beach, visited the Steinbeck Museum in Salinas and will have to catch the Monterey Bay Aquarium on another visit. This quickly became a favorite place for all of us, and we’ll be back :)

Great property, but some issues
Pros: Person at front gate was amazing Ample garage space Amazing views Comfortable beds Quiet Nice amenities at the complex Cons: No Adirondack chairs as previously mentioned in other reviews, just the same dirty stack-able plastic chairs roped to the property. Little kid finger prints all over windows in living room Couch is less comfortable than a church pew and had sand between the cushions One last smaller issue was that the main living room tv has some issues that cause lines going down the left side of it. (looks like someone hit it)

Hi Jeff, Thank you for your review. I really appreciate feedback as I strive to improve our home as well. Let me address some of your issues. I’m sorry to give you the impression that the Adirondack chairs would be there for your stay. Unfortunately, one of the chairs was back ordered and I was not able to deliver them to the home before your stay. I agree with you the couch is not very comfortable and I am in the process of replacing it. As for cleaning issues, I will definitely talk to my housekeeper about things such as fingerprints on the inside windows and crumbs between cushions! I was unaware of the issue with the television, I will address that this month when I go down to the home.

Great property, remote location
Although the property was not convenient for our daughter's wedding in Monterey (we made many trips per day to town the first few days!), we loved the quiet, remote location and proximity to the beach and bay and were able to enjoy the setting after the wedding. The property is close to Moss Landing and Castroville and other towns for restaurants and groceries. The home was a perfect size for 6 adults. One note: the sofa was not comfortable and made it difficult to sit with others for conversation and tv.

Missed the mark
First off I want to stat by saying that this is our third VRBO visit to Monterey Dunes Colony and the setting and location are stunning. It is the perfect place to take a family and we have always been more than satisfied with the previous condos we rented. With that being said, this condo is by far the worst property we have stayed at here. The rave reviews and pictures were misleading and the hosts have clearly put no money into the property for any upgrades or improvements since it was built and it is reflected throughout the home. However, dated and dingy decor, carpet, and furniture were the least of the condo's problems. The original kitchen is so old that it barely functions and it is almost impossible to cook a decent meal. The kitchen is dirty, cluttered, and overstocked with unnecessary items that cooking was difficult. The spice cabinet is a mess and in total disarray with crumpled coffee filters scattered about. Clearly no thought has been put into what is needed for a functioning kitchen and nothing has been removed but rather they continue to add more and more to the dilapidated chaos like dozens and dozens of dull knives. We had 7 people in our family and were provided with 6 old white towels. Although steps from the stunning ocean and at a resort with a pool and hot tub, not a single beach or pool towel was provided for us. I even contacted housekeeping because I thought there must have been some sort of mistake, nope, just a hosting oversight and we had to spend our vacation time to go to the Wal-Mart for towels. No kitchen garbage bags, napkins, and a feeling that wherever the hosts can cut corners they do. We met 3 other families here and all of their VRBO's at the same price point were far superior to ours in every way. Most of the windows were stuck and unable to be opened up to let in the fresh ocean air and even the deck chairs which every property has to enjoy the beautiful ocean views were the cheap, plastic, and stackable kind and were filthy with little thought put towards guest's comfort and enjoyment. Premier host status is a huge stretch for me and one should plan to take a big leap backwards in time and cleanliness if booking this property. We have never been disappointed by this location, but sadly no one was impressed with this condo.

Perfect safe and fun getaway
We stayed a few nights during spring break and it was amazing! The home accommodated 5 adults and 2 children comfortably. When we weren’t at the beach we enjoyed the views of the dunes and ocean from the floor to ceiling windows in the living room. The master bedroom views were just as breathtaking and falling asleep to the ocean sounds was a treat! The beds were comfortable and kitchen well stocked. We would definitely stay here again. Shelli was very responsive and we even had a bottle of wine waiting for our arrival!!

Best Mini Vacation Ever
Front gate was my opening experience and that got me started on a VERY positive note. Such a sweet woman. Thank you Heather. The house was set up to make every aspect of the trip perfect. The house was immaculately clean and everything, that we needed, was in perfect working order. The contact person was available immediately with any questions. Beautiful location
Extremely functional and convenient home in a great location, just steps from the ocean, with beautiful views from several parts of the home. Our family had a great time, including our infant daughter. A few small things like electronic locks and garage opener with a password protected Wifi might make things a bit more convenient - but overall highly recommend the place.

Perfect family getaway
We had such a great 3 night stay! Getting the keys early was very convenient and the information provided made check in very easy. The house was clean and well stocked. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine which was a nice touch. The property manager contacted us during our stay about a possible circuit breaker concern which we had figured out, but we appreciated the follow up and attention to detail. The location right on the beach is so incredible and it made for a relaxing family vacation.

This beautiful beach house was in the ideal location. Right by the front access gate. Loved the huge windows looking out onto the ocean. We saw a lot of seals and porpoises on our long walks along the beach everyday. The house was clean and had a lot of amenities. Would definitely return next year. Great communication with staff.

My wife, I, our two daughters, 13 year old grandson, and his 13 year old friend all thought this was an ideal property. The living room, kitchen, and especially the master bedroom have beautiful views of the ocean and it is just a short board walk to the beach. We would definitely stay again!

It's nearly perfect for a relaxing escape. On the sand, yet no crowds. Cozy yet spacious. Excellent amenities. The only thing that isn't perfect is that the internet speed is widely variable, unusable at times.

Since there is no cable internet/TV service to Monterey Dunes Colony, our internet service comes via a microwave signal from miles away. The Colony is looking into other, faster services.
