Hotel under construction!

Posted Aug 15, 2014
I wish I had known that the hotel was under construction/renovation. There was nothing there except my room. My room was nice and new. That was fine. But there were no real amenities available except vending machines. The staff were very nice. I just wish the listing had mentioned something. My first negative experience with Expedia and I will keep using your service and chalk this up to miscommunication.

Under renovation and not handling it well.

Posted Aug 12, 2014
Pros: The newly renovated room was clean.
Cons: Hire some honest employees.
Location: The hotel was downtown and cheaper than other downtown hotels, but the price will probably go up after renovation. Choose one of the other ones.
I knew the hotel was under renovation when I booked it, but I did not expect to have to walk under a ladder when I exited the elevator. Three desk clerks gave three different answers to the same questions, and they were standing right next to each other! It was like a comedy act. One outright lied. The descriptions of amenities in the room were based on some past or future scenarios (These were Xerox sheets, not fancy binders). Couldn't they have typed up the present situation (breakfast at one end of the ballroom, no business center available, no shuttle service available, no need for an internet password, $15 parking fee, etc.) and left it in each room?

Nice hotel. Going through renovations currently, so expect construction, but should be nice when finished. Many rooms seem to already be renovated. Comfortable king bed, air conditioning works great. Bathroom was nice and modern, with shower only, but who needs a tub at a hotel? Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Average

Posted Jul 29, 2014
Our stay was average. I was in town for a conference and this was one of the host hotels. I'm not sure if the fact that we had to pay an additional $10 a day for the microwave and an additional $10 a day for wifi was a contract issue, but needless to say, that was ridiculous. The room was a little smaller than I'm accustomed to, but was fairly clean and comfortable. The bathroom sink drained very slowly, we asked for it to be looked at and there was no follow up. Likely due to the high number of guests we didn't always have enough clean towels. Some of the staff members were super helpful and friendly...some should return to customer service class. It wasn't my best hotel experience, but definitely not the worst. Overall it was an average stay. I guess at the end of the day chocolate chip cookies make everything better (which were in endless supply)!

Avoid

Posted Jul 25, 2014
Cons: See above
First, the hotel is under construction, there is only one useable elevator and avoid staying on a lower floor. Once I was able to get to the room it seemed OK, until I tried to use some of the basics and get a good night's sleep. Even though this is non-smoking there were burn marks on the bed spread - and on white linens that's an easy thing to spot. When turning on the TV every channel had interference (or snow) and was barely viewable. The toilet was partially stopped and wouldn't flush properly. The walls were very thin and there was a group of people partying until 4AM - not that this is entirely the hotel's fault, but when you arrive in the evening on a business trip and all you want to do is get a good night's sleep, a college party in the next room isn't welcome.

Do not stay at this hotel!

Posted Jul 20, 2014
Remodeling during our stay. Pool closed, restaurant and bar was set up as tables in the hallway, only one slow elevator. We were harassed by security for "being too loud" when we were only talking on the balcony. The phone in the room was not operating...no dial tone, was like a movie prop.

Reno

Posted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Upgrades to room were nice.
Location: Location is okay, on the edge of uptown, so a walk to eat since restaurant was closed. There was a shuttle available, but it was in use.
Hotel was under renovation which was not posted when I made my reservation. Nor did I ever receive any correspondence telling me that the hotel would be under renovation during my stay. The restaurant & pool were both closed. Only one elevator was available and twice we had to wait to go to our room because the elevator was full.

Be aware, major construction

Posted Jul 14, 2014
My issue was that there was no mention of construction on expedia. The hotel was in major renovation and the common spaces were very small. There was one working elevator. Staff was polite, but for $275 a night I would like to have been prepared for the mess!

No one said it was under construction!

Posted Jun 29, 2014
Pros: Rooms were clean.
Cons: Notify those who are booking of the renovations + their implications.
Location: Downtown. Walk to Epicentre. Taxi to NASCAR Hall of Fame
We put 4 nites on a credit card only to discover when we got there the hotel was being renovated. No pool available. No restaurant. No breakfast. We paid for 2 beds but got one. The lobby + the hotel were a mess. Renovations were noisy. Check the hotel website before you buy. We would not have stayed here had we known it was undergoing renovations!
