The area around Chuzhou is brimming with natural and cultural attractions, from perennial tourist favourites to still-undiscovered gems. Some interesting places in the vicinity of Chuzhou are Pancheng, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the west, and Shiyang, 25 miles (40 kilometers) to the north.
While you are on holiday in Chuzhou, spend a few hours exploring Nanjing. Approximately 35 miles (56 kilometers) away, this regional transport and shopping hub is where you'll find Zhonghua Men Gate, Nanjing University of Technology and Nanjing Aeronautics and Astronautics University. Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, Porcelain Tower and Purple Mountain Observatory are also well-worth a visit while you are here.
There is nothing that opens understanding in this fascinating planet in the way language can, so practice a few handy Mandarin phrases before you head off. "Nǐ yào bú yào gēn wǒ tiàowǔ" is a good one to try. It means "Would you like todance with me?" You'll find that knowing "Zhèiwèi xiānsheng huì qīngdān", which means "This gentleman/lady will pay for everything", can make all the difference.
As the sun sets on your adventures, spend what's left of your renminbi on that last souvenir and bid a fond Zàijiàn (farewell) to the friends you've made and the spots you've enjoyed.
