Even though it's renovated like a Rosebud Motel, still gives murder hotel vibes. We were choosing between this and Days Inn and not sure what's better. Just so annoying that everything "normal" (Holiday Inn, Hilton Garden) is pretty expensive for what they are (random stays on non weekedns in a college town ... like sure a football game night you expect $$$ but it sucks to feel like you need to stay at a place like this b/c the *Holiday Inn* is $200 on a random Tuesday ..

Hi Candace! We are sorry to hear that your recent stay was less than excellent. You are correct, we are not your normal hotel, we are a Retro Boutique Hotel, with our own ambiance and chill vibe. It is unfortunate that you were unhappy with the prices of the "normal" hotels in our area, we are happy however, that we could offer a better deal. As we have no control over their prices, leaving us a review about our competitors does not seem to be a constructive avenue for your feedback. However, we would love to hear what we could do to improve your experience at Hotel Corvallis during your next visit!

For being in a hotel in a university town, the room was surprisingly poorly outfitted to do any writing or reading in. There was no desk -- and not really any surface that could be used as a desk. There was an armchair aimed at being comfy, but terrible for trying to work in. Outlets for plugging in a laptop were in scarce supply or awkward locations. There was no work lamp -- and no reading light near the bed. Because the lobby/reception area was under construction, trying to work there wasn't an option either. I wanted to like this hotel more than I actually did -- and I'll probably give it another chance some day if I am back working at Oregon State University because it's very convenient to campus.

Corvallis is a small college town. This hotel fit the need for a quick weekend while there visiting. Very friendly staff and clean facility. Doors open to the outside but spacious. Easy walk to downtown and all the restaurants as well as short walk to OSU.

Upon arrival I was told there is a $30 "cleaning" fee for having my 2 dogs. I looked everywhere when I booked online and no where in the policy does it mention a nightly "cleaning fee"...only fee it mentions is $150 if the dog destroys something.. I also didn't see wher there is a $100 "incidentals" charged at check in. So I had to dish out another $130 or I would of lost my reservation all together because it was non refundable. This is a total scam. It's unfortunate because the rooms are decent. The floors were still dirty and good luck finding parking but $130 at check in for fees that were not expressed on the site I booked with it really crappy. Front desk said the $100 will be refunded at check out. So they don't just hold your card they charged me $100 and will be refunded back to me within 7-10 days. This just feels illegal

Good morning Jennifer!After reading your review I thought I'd do some digging for myself and you are absolutely correct, our 100 security deposit is not listed on our Expedia page and for that I do apologize. In this modern day and age Hotels taking security deposits are becoming more and more frequent, and while we do have this listed on our website I agree that it can be confusing to not have it on expedia as well. However, while looking at other hotels in town such as Best Western and Marriott (who both also require an incidental), they do not have it listed either so hopefully you don't take this personally.I understand that this can be frustrating, however I'm hoping you can understand why we have this policy in place. With us being an independent business and in a college town we have this to act just as a security deposit to protect ourselves from any damages that may occur in the room.Moving on to the pet fee, our pet fee is listed twice on our expedia page. When reading through our policies you will see that guests are welcome at an additional cost of 33 per night. This information is additionally listed if you look at the optional add ons.Now again to explain why we have a pet fee in place. When a pet goes into the room, it creates extra work for our housekeepers, causing them to go above and beyond to ensure that the next guest doesn't find any trace of your pet in their room. Additionally we donate a portion of this pet fee to the senior dog rescue foundation as a way to pave it forwards and help some senior dogs find homes.This fee is not added onto the security deposit, but instead taken out of it. An additional 133 was not added onto your reservation, but rather we hold 100 incase of damages, and then remove the 33 from that hold and release the rest back to you. Hopefully after providing some more explanation I was able to clear the air here. If there's anything else we can do to help you out please give us a call and we'd be happy to help.

Biggest complaint was that guy next door started car at 4:30am and it felt like the car was parked in the room. so not much noise insulation at front door. other than this issue, the place was great and had plenty of room for our three plus one small dog.

On second night person outside rooms screaming and cursing and banging on windows/doors. This was around midnight. My daughter and her friend were in separate room but ended up staying in my room out of fear for their safety. We than checked out 1day early because of this

We were placed in a room that had an adjoining room and without a table and only one chair but with two bunk beds that we didn’t need. The people connected to our room were talking loudly and slamming doors throughout the night. Will not stay here again.

We had a few comments about the noise from other guests at departure, and we believe we know what may have gone on, and will be addressing the issue. However, without any noise complaints while anyone was in-house, we had no way of taking action. We apologize that the attendant was not at the desk at arrival, we usually have a single attendant for slower evenings, and understand that they may be taking care of another task on the property. We will look into the night of your check-in, as your claim of an unfriendly check-in goes against most of our recent reviews. If we do find that something occurred outside of our training, we will look to eliminate this occurrence. We would love to have you again, and hopefully bump up that score in the future.

Unfortunately our terrible first impression ruined our opinion of the hotel. We arrived at 4pm, checked in, and went to take showers. There was NO hot water. We waited a bit, tried different strategies with the faucet, and eventually called the front desk. Their response: “A lot of people just checked in so they are all likely taking showers now. Try again in an hour or so”. No apology, no sympathy, no offer of a creative solution. Just “it’s an old hotel, what do you expect?” We were gaslit into thinking that no hot water at a hotel is a normal thing. We had to take freezing cold showers and head off to our appointments. The next morning and the following morning the hot water was just fine. Isn’t *that* when the majority of people would be taking showers? We also didn’t appreciate the $100 credit card hold for any incidental charges. Beds were comfortable. Floors are not carpeted, and felt cold. The comment someone else made about their remodel being lipstick on a pig is just right. Would not stay here again.

Hello Misha, We apologize about the lack of hot water in your room, and understand that this can be an inconvenience. We definitely don't shy from the fact that we are an older hotel, but that doesn't effect our water production, as we had all the piping replaced in recent years. In most cases we simply ask you to run the water for another 5-10 minutes as this normally fixes the issue. we are sorry that you felt that way about how you were treated and will look into what may have happened that night.Our floors are not carpeted to ensure that we can clean them fully, and we have sippers available to accommodate guests who ask.Credit card holds are common practice in hotels and are there to allow our guests some greater convenience (to buy items/drinks), while also ensuring our policies. We're sorry that you feel this way.
