Very beautiful property next to the sea. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty as we we’re staying in Scalea only one night on our way to Calabria- a gem for sure. The hotel manager and staff were very kind and helpful. Beautiful beach and access to it is easy. We want to visit again for a longer time. Breakfast was great as well. They had a very nice Buffay with a lot of different options to choose from.

The view was awesome, the staff was friendly and accommodating, it had a pool and jacuzzi that was very well kept, and the beach and dining was within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this hotel in Scalea.

Pros: -very kind and helpful staff; -everything was very clean. Cons: -old structure, rooms and halls need some renovation; -food was acceptable, but not good enough for the price -LOTS of stairs, had some struggle there as we had our trolley.

The setting, proximity to the beach, and views are fabulous and the breakfast was good. The beds are a little low, the shower small, and parking was difficult but manageable.

Air conditioning has a strong smell of sulphur, so can't use during the night. Small ants all over so don't leave food lying around. Beds are really soft so you might wake up with a bad back. Parking space is quite limited but we were able to manage without damaging anything. There is a minifridge in the room but you are not allowed to use it to store your own food or drinks in it. Bathroom is really tight but this was not an issue. But, of all this, the worst is that much of the staff (not all mind you) is uncaring. Uncaring about the state of the hotel, uncaring about the clients. The beach was nice with long chairs and ombrello inclusive. Good restaurants nearby. Breakfast is continental and very complete. Pool was very clean.

This hotel is not a 4 star hotel. The check in staff called over the older housekeeping staff to carry our bags! Ridiculous! The lifeguard at the Lido was more concerned with his girlfriend than anything else. The Lido itself offered nothing for kids - there were much better offerings a couple of doors down.The service at breakfast was terrible - no greeting or offer of coffee. Our shower drain blocked up and although we notified reception, they didn't notify anyone, which made for 2 days of incredibly short (max 2 minute) showers! The highlight of this hotel is the housekeeping staff, fabulous people!! This hotel is 3 star at best.

Nice gem in Calabria
The location is great, the hotel mostly looks like B&B, breakfast is Italian standards, just lunch served. There is not TV in the large lounge area and don't have music too. Parking is great. Balcony is also nice.

Nice hotel with private beach
We stayed 3 days and 2 nights. Breakfast was awesome with a wide range of food. Room was very comfortable with ample toiletries . Huge bedroom, sea facing available. Pool was clean, although opened for restricted hours. Private beach available includes a beach umbrella and two comfortable beach chairs. Hotel is within 200m from beach. Recommend to everybody and want to came again.

Great place
Comfortable room with great view of beach and ocean from the ocean view room. Beach was only 20 meters from hotel with free use of Hotel's own Lido on the beach. Also only short walk to town centre. On site parking was adequate and no extra charge.

Beautiful 1970 gem perfectly maintained with a dedicated staff. Special mention to Georgina. An understated level of sophistication that include a beautiful pool in a landscaped garden overlooking the bay and a stylish lido where superb light lunches are served by friendly staff. The architecture, the interior decoration and high quality furnitures and lighting of this hotel is worthy of a piece in a design magazine such as World of Interior or Wallpaper.

Nice Hotel, but a little bit worn out....
We stayed here because our friends were getting married in a nearby town. We chose the hotel because of the great location, and it is supposedly one of the best in the area. Overall, we liked the hotel, but it needs some updating. The rooms were dark, although they had great views of hte ocean. The buffet breakfast was ok, but not great. Overall, it was pretty average.

Brilliant Hotel!
I have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Grand Hotel De Rose. In brief, the hotel ticked all the boxes for me. Good food, great location, own beach with free umbrellas/sunbeds and was situated at the bottom of the cliff, directly underneath the hotel. I was given a double room with sea view and balcony which was gorgeous to wake up to in the mornings. The staff at the hotel were pleasant and professional, though little English was spoken. I found my basic Italian useful whilst in Calabria and the locals seemed to appreciate my attempts. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel in the future.

Vermutlich bestes und größtes Hotel in Scalea
Die Lage des Hotels zu Scalea und dem Strand ist super. Über das Hotelgelände kommt man zu Fuß in wenigen Minuten an den Strand. Schirm und liegen sind im Preis inbegriffen. Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Meerblick. Das Zimmer war geräumig mit genügend Stauraum für Kleidung. Das Bad klein, aber ausreichend mit etwas größerer Dusche. Das Frühstück war leider unterdurchschnittlich und nicht sehr abwechslungsreich. Der Frühstücksraum ist Richtung Meer mit viel Glasfront. Die kann jedoch nicht geöffnet werden, das die beweglichen Fensterelemente nachträglich abgedichtet wurden. Das kpl. Hotelgebäude ist schon in die Jahre gekommen, dennoch war alles sauber.

L’ho scelto per la vicinanza al mare, infatti ha una discesa privata e compresa nel prezzo. Spiaggia molto bella, organizzata e pulita, era presente ogni tipo di comfort, partendo dal bar con uno staff gentilissimo e finendo alle docce calde gratuite, molto comode. L’albergo è grande, molto pulito e dispone anche di una bella piscina con vista mare. L’arredamento forse è un po’ da rivedere essendo un po’ datato però nel complesso è stato tutto molto bello. Vista panoramica, struttura un po’ fanè ma ugualmente ben tenuta e dignitosa. Qualche piccolo miglioramento possibile nei bagni delle stanze e la pulizia delle vetrate panoramiche. Tutto bene ma bisogna migliorare nel parcheggio in quanto piu volte non sono riuscito a sistemare la propria all'interno della struttura e per quanto rigurda la stanza il frigo bisogna cambiarlo in quanto obsleto non raffredava e quindi non ho usufruito le bevande all'interno in quanto anziché di essere fredde erano calde per il resto colazione eccelente e anche le pulizie ottime.
