"The staff were very kind and looked after my luggage as I arrived in Wakayama early. The hotel is very close to Wakayamashi station and easy to find. It is also close to the castle and other tourist attractions. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel has rental bicycles which were only 100 Yen which was cheap and convenient. The hotel seems like it needs to be updated as it looks a bit old in places, however it was very clean. It was very good value."

"The service staff is exceptional. We had dinner at the nearby Mitu restaurant and the restaurant charged us twice which I think was an honest mistake. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed for the next two days which meant we couldn't contact the restaurant re the double charge as we were scheduled to move on to the next city on our tour. We approached the hotel staff to see if they could contact the restaurant on our behalf to get them to check the restaurant records. They were very helpful...

"The hotel is at an excellent location although the decor is a bit dated. The room is big with a balcony overlooking the famous Shirahama beach. The hotel staff were the most helpful. The lady staff was in the phone with various parties to help us sort out our punctured tire on the day we checked out. Sorry I didn’t get her name but she was the only female staff there on the morning of 3 Nov 2023. Thank you so much!"

"The bathroom had a pretty funky smell that never went away, and it seemed that their answer was to put a tiny bag of potpourri next to the toilet, but it could have used a more thorough cleaning. Otherwise, a very nice and helpful staff, great free shuttle for local hikes, and decent breakfast and dinner. Quiet and lovely spot by the river where many people were enjoying the water."

"I don’t want to sound cliché but I can not recommend this place highly enough. Please go and please stay here. Every bit of it was wonderful, the dining experience, the garden, the onsens, the waterfall and the staff: exceptionally beautiful and enthusiastically helpful people. "

"This was a great place to stay. Some of the staff spoke English very well. The only downside to it was the restroom. The toilet was so close to the wall that my knees were pressed against the wall when in the sitting position. As for standing they have a urinal downstairs. "
