This hotel lived up to it's fabulous reviews. Clean, comfortable, wonderful views across Lynton, close to the town's amenities but also very quiet and set back up a hill. Diana & Keith who run the hotel are really lovely people, very welcoming and friendly and will go the extra mile. They love what they do and it shows! The breakfasts were beautifully cooked and with lots of choice and 3 course evening meals are also on offer...the menu looked great and the food we saw looked and smelt delicious although we didn't eat there in the evening. There are seven rooms on 3 levels all tastefully decorated in a different style, books to read, jigsaw puzzles to do, board games to play. Little unexpected extras in the rooms like notepaper & pen, a trivia travel book, cosmetic wipes, bubble bath and other bits and bobs all added to the welcoming atmosphere. We felt like friends who were guests in a lovely family home.
The scenery is stunning especially on the coastal walk to The Valley of The Rocks and Lee Abbey. Highly recommend a visit to the Tea Cottage there and a walk down to Lee Bay. Other places to visit..Ilfracombe, Porlock with its famous steep hill, Minehead, Lorna Doone Farm at Malmshead, Parracombe a very pretty village. Barnstaple with its Pannier market, Exmoor Zoo and highly recommended: A Sheep Dog & falconry show at Borough Farm every Wednesday evening with David Kennard (TV shepherd) Very professional and entertaining.
