The hotel is NOT a 4 star hotel but a classic 3 star one. The room has have an outdated feel, and the lighting would appeal only to white neon lovers. The public areas are not enticing, and could also use an upgrade. The two things that speak for it are the view and the very friendly and helpful staff.

Comfortable stay
Short but comfortable stay. Rooms are nicely sized and the bed is comfortable. Air con in the room and the good water pressure. Check in was smooth and easy. Breakfast has all the basics like eggs and bacon and some fruit and included in the night. Overall great value for money, would recommend.

Very helpful staff, good breakfast, great views. Bartenders will pour whatever you’d like. Easy walk to anywhere from the hotel or they will call you a taxi.

Great stay
All rooms have balconies overlooking the water and Pico Island. We were lucky enough to be upgraded to a one bedroom suite on the fifth floor. Breakfast was varied with hot and cold selections. Friendly staff. Quiet location within walking distance of town but uphill on the way back.

Allowed us to check in early which was nice as we were coming from Canada. I think all rooms have a view of Pico but we were on the 4th floor which gave us a great view. The hotel and the whole island was spotless although the hotel could use refurbishing. The breakfast was more than adequate. Scrambled eggs, sausage and cooked tomatoes everyday and some days bacon as well. The also had cold meats, regional cheeses, cereals, pancakes, fresh fruit and buns. The location was a short walk to the water but on a hill. Very steep walk up and down. All in all it was very nice!

Enjoyed our stay. The staff were wonderful, especially Victor! We loved the pool and view is fabulous! We would stay there again next time in Horta.

all balconies overlook the harbor for a wonderful view across to Mt. Pico since the hotel is located partway up the hill yet within walking distance. I suggest afternoon check-in if you have a car since their parking lot is very small.

Amazing view!
I was very pleasantly surprised that my room had such an expansive view of Horta, the channel, and Pico. The room and bathroom were clean and updated. The bed was firm and very comfortable. Wifi always worked. Breakfast was basic and tasty.

Small room with okay amenities. Nice private balcony with great view of Pico. Beds were hard. Common areas of hotel were old and worn looking. Bar and restaurant were often closed. Breakfast buffet offered good options. Pool was closed.

We stayed 3 nights either side of a week sailing the islands. It was wonderful to get back to the hotel’s excellent bathroom after a week of marinas! The hotel staff were very helpful, the breakfasts good, the views magnificent. We will go back.

My stay was for family responsibility there in the island. Hotel is extremely convenient to where I had to walk too daily. Taxis are always at disposal if needed... I have stayed there prior and it's my first choice always.

Great room with amazing view
Very good hotel in a great location. I had a room on the top floor with beautiful views over Horta and towards Pico and Sao Jorge islands. Very helpful staff and good breakfast. I did not use the restaurant for dinner. The only minor snag is that the taxi I had ordered did not show up at the airport. However, there were many available cabbies. I'd willingly stay there again.

A very nice 4 star hotel. Very good rooms and beds. Good restaurant for dinner on the balcony, great breakfast buffet. It is about three blocks up from waterfront and streets can be steep. But it has a great view of Mt Pico on Pico island.

The hotel was good overall, easy check-in, staff was friendly. The rooms were nice, but when cleaned there was a strong smell of cleaning product, but opening the patio door for a bit fixed the smell. The area was well, a short walk to the downtown area with restaurants and shops, would stay here again

Beautiful view of Pico
The rooms were nice and clean but the reason to stay at this hotel are the views of Pico from the room. The rooms have balconies so you can sit back and enjoy the views. Hotel staff did not speak English well and were not helpful setting up tours. The restaurant is not worth going to except the included breakfast. Location is good, just a short walk to the water front.

Met the needs for a 3 night break in Horta
Bit of a climb up to the hotel from the ferry, check in was easy and the staff as a whole efficient and friendly. The rooms were clean and the bathroom stocked ok. Nice balcony for a view towards Pico. Breakfast was ok just needed to be restocked quicker. Downside is no coffee maker in the room and bar service is erratic. Good value for money

Nice stay in Horta
Highly recommend staying at Hotel Horta. Friendly staff helped us rent a scooter, get a taxi, and generally navigate around Faial island. Great breakfast included with stay, but would skip dinner in the hotel restaurant. Room was clean and comfortable with a great view of Pico mountain from the balcony.

We didn't have air conditioning our entire stay . The breakfast was alright . They don't fill the food fast enough . they were nice at front desk. And the bell boys are basically the only people to go out of their way for you . There was construction over our heads. one morning that we wanted to sleep in . They woke us up at 9 with construction noise. The only thing I have to give a 4 stars to is the view . Beautiful view of Pico . I would go back just for that . But next time I would have to have a room with air.

The common areas of the hotel are consistent with a 4 star but the room is closer to a 3 star rating. Staff was really friendly and responded to requests immediately. Room has stained carpet and shower grout, breakfast was very basic and wifi was very slow for downloading.
